Some great thinking here -- yes mental/physical/cultural combination would be desirable. I also agree the the activity should be "pure human" as a counterpoint to whatever else is part of the culture. This leaves room for the inhabitants of aquadiem (or whatever we call this place) to be very-high tech on other levels.

As a humorous aside, this might also solve the marriage/partner issue. Maybe the annual games would be a good time to select or cast-off one's mate? A good time to announce the yearly match ups. This way people could reaffirm their commitment, or shop around. The real benefit is that it's hands-off (except for those who have no commitments) during the rest of the year.

Keep with it everyone this is looking pretty good...

Has anyone considered:

A. How we shall document this (above and beyond the 48 x 48) panel

B: Who is our audience (Chun Wo and I have a plan, but your suggestions may be more dynamic...)
