Subject: A possible solution

This morning I woke up early and couldn’t go back to sleep and since I have been working myself to death during the end of semester rush I decided to take some personal time and catch up on the message board posts I haven’t had time to read. I am rather ashamed to confess that over the last 2 or 3 weeks I allowed the message board to turn completely red! (but am happy to say that now the majority of it is read;) However, I wish I had known what was being discussed because I definitely have an opinion, which appears to be in the minority:

I absolutely love the Inzeladun game I am a part of. In fact I enjoy it to the point that I would rather it not change at all. Sure there are one or two things that I would maybe modify in a perfect world (I would like some more down time between having to run off and save the world or X city or X person and I would like to have the occasional adventure that isn’t about saving the world, most of all I would like to have the time to game more often and without interruption) but I am of the opinion that my gaming experience is almost at the optimum level. This makes me very concerned that the drastic or even not so drastic changes being currently discussed have a better chance of ruining the game I participate in more then improving it.

Thus I was very surprised to see that the vast majority of posts were people talking about how the game should be changed. This tends to make me think that maybe not everyone is sharing my enjoyment. So I think I have a possible solution to our problems: Different games for different people.

We all have slightly different tastes as gamers so why can’t the tone of the many different Inzeladun campaigns that are played in a month vary to fit the major taste groups of the people involved. We already do this to a certain degree, for example I don’t think I would enjoy playing in ILLITHID SLAYER CHRONICLES that much and I don’t think Donald would have enjoyed what the Ingaran Group has been doing recently. This doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with either campaign it is just about a preference in tone.

Having said that the only thing that I think would justify the major changes being discussed is if Vince’s enjoyment of the game is dependent upon the game changing. Vince works hard to create adventures we enjoy and most the time I don’t think we realize that his enjoyment is sometimes conditional on our chars actions. In that light I am going to turn the tables I Vince a bit. Many times he has posted asking us “What are the qualities you want in an ideal campaign?” so I am going to ask him a question in hopes it might resolve some of this conflict.

Vince, what are the qualities you want in an ideal PC for a campaign you are running?
