Well, that makes sense, but on p113 of MM3.5, it lists the stats for Gargoyles as characters as +4 str, +4 Dex, +8 Con, -4 Int, -4 Charisma. Those are the stats I used in my design...

They do have the earth descriptor in the 3.5MM.
