Dear Rafael,
I pray for this poem to amuse,
since it was inspired
by your comments to me.

Jeweler's Wish

I'm like a jeweler
polishing a gem.
Looking at it,
again and again.

For those imperfections
that first or thirdly, escaped my notice,
now needing to be ground once more,
then polishing to all it's glory.
But even then, sometimes I miss that tiny flaw.

I am sure, I am not, the only poet
upon reading and seeing in context
of changing their poem's words,
saying this and this must fix, of the text.

Change or delete a word or words
or move it around and about..
Is coma in proper place or should it be spurned,
what's that period doing there?

If have the time and I really care,
sometimes I do it to others, too.
Don't want their feelings to pare,
just want to show, their words are incredible gems.

Maybe my words, can become part of
the sparkling necklace of poetry?
Or be a bridge to help brotherly love,
of what many feel, yet may not be able to express.

But for me, pray m'poems are up to standard
of what I wanted it to say.
Wouldn't mind for them to pay,
if what I write, can touch one so.
Praying for people not to split,
as in a "gerrymander".
