Déjà vu


Perhaps it allowed you that uncertain luxury
of feeling more comfortable on display,
that physical you! when all I asked to see
was an honesty contrived of your persona.

Possibly your inhibitions had pre-determined
the enactment of display with sexuality,
while between you and I it has to be said
a certain danger stalks, our definite frailty.

Listening intently it amused me considerably
those lecturing thoughts assuming much,
my secluded femininity, could well relate
as I remained silent, words bared your soul.

Lowering all outward portrayal of my esteem
encouraged each confidence you showed,
mistakenly an estimation lacked substance
nakedly sat opposite, vulnerability did arise.

Fortunately, life has been filled with mistakes
for me, those disadvantaged encounters,
providing now this wisdom well acquired
understanding through maturity, every fall.

Forgetting many of the injuries allows dignity
this provides me personally my outlook,
while enthusiasm leads walking forwards:
please cover yourself, I’ve been here before.
