As Theresa and Whitney walked into the five-star restaurant, whispers were heard all across the room. Every eye in the elegant room was glued on Theresa. But why wouldn’t it be. She was simply stunning in her black fitted knee length dress. She wore white pearls with earrings to match.
The fire in her eyes was glowing. And she hoped it remained for the rest of the evening. But why wouldn’t it. Whitney had brought her there to have a good time. And a good time she shall have.
Not soon after they arrived, Ethan walked in with Candance on his arm. You would have thought fire works were going off right inside from the many flashes of the photographer’s cameras.
“Ah, Mr. Crane.” The maitre'd happily announced. “It’s a pleasure serving you tonight.”
“Umm, thank you. Thank you very much.” He said with a smirk.
The happy man personally escorted Ethan and his lovely date to their table and turned back lightly skipping because Ethan Crane had graced his presence there that night.
Theresa glanced over at Ethan and Candance and turned to Whit in puzzlement.
“Theresa are you all right?” Whitney asked.
“Oh yeah, I was just wondering who that guy was that the reporters did a dance for.”
“Oh, that’s Ethan Crane. The millionaire who has nothing else better to do than be the district attorney.”
“Oh, well, ok.” Theresa totally seemed uninterested in what Whitney was saying about the young district attorney.

Half way through dinner, Theresa couldn’t believe the many offers to dance she received from the guys in the room. She was flattered, but seemed uncomfortable saying yes.
Whitney urged her to dance, but Theresa didn’t feel it was right having a good time without Rick. This attitude made Whitney become upset.
“Theresa! I know you are going through something right now, but eventually you will have to get over this pain. You will have to forget about Rick.”
Why did Whitney say this to her. Tears began to tug at Theresa’s caramel brown eyes.
“Shut up!” Theresa hissed. “You just shut your damn mouth. I don’t want to get over it. I don’t want to forget about Rick. He was my life. The air I breathed was Rick. The sun rise was Rick.” Her tears flowed heavily now.
“You don’t understand Whitney. You don’t even have a clue. I went to bed one night making love to my husband, and the next night he was gone. He was gone. Do you hear me? Gone…!” She trailed off.
Whitney couldn’t calm her friend down. She had gotten very upset with her comments. Whitney didn’t know what to do. Theresa seemed at a point of no return.
Theresa searched the room. No one had paid any attention to her little outburst. She was grateful. She didn’t want to cause a spectacle of herself or her friend, Whitney.
“I am so sorry Whit. I didn’t mean to lose it like that.”
“Not a problem honey. It was my fault. I shouldn’t assume that you should get over your loss so soon.”
“Well, I better go re-touch my make-up if I want someone else to ask me to dance.”
Whitney gave an uneasy smile at her. She didn’t want her rushing into things just because she thought it was a good idea.
“Theresa please…” Whitney managed before she was cut off.
“Don’t worry about it Whit. I know you only want what is best for me. I love you for that. You are such a dear friend.”
Theresa grabbed Whitney’s hand across the table and gave it a light squeeze. She wanted Whitney to know that all was well. Well, maybe not all, but she could feel wounds healing.
Theresa stood up from the table and began to walk toward the lobby. Every guy’s eye was glue to this stunning creature, including Ethan Crane’s.
“What is it Ethan?” Candance said brushing her hand across his.
Ethan didn’t answer. He looked at the young Latin girl that walked towards the lobby, and had to get a better look. He didn’t want her getting away from him this time.
“Ethan! Are you O.K.? Ethan!” Candance continued.
“I’ll be right back.”
Ethan rose from the table to catch up with Theresa.
Out in the lobby, Theresa asked someone where she could find the ladies room.
Just as she reached the door, she heard a man’s voice.
“Excuse me miss!” Ethan called out.
Theresa slowly turned to face the man who called her miss.
When Ethan finally saw her deep endless beautiful eyes, he cursed the gods for not showing him this woman until now.
Theresa didn’t say anything.
Neither did Ethan. He just stood there gazing into what he thought was paradise. After a minute had passed he decided he should say something.
“Umm, hello.” He managed, not knowing how to address such a goddess.
Looking confused Theresa spoke. “Hello.” She said with a tilt of her head.
Ethan walked up closer to get a whiff of her sweet perfume.
Theresa stepped back away from the stranger.
“It is you. I knew it. I would know that perfume anywhere.”
“I’m sorry, have we met?” She said.
“Well, not really. I saw you a few weeks ago in the airport. You had a cat.”
Theresa smiled at the thought of Mr. Spoobers. She had done the poor dear so wrong. She vowed right at that moment to make it up to him.
“Mr. Spoobers.” She said with a twinkle in her eye.
Ethan looked confused now. “Mr. Who?” He replied.
“My cat, Mr. Spoobers. You saw me at the airport?”
“Yeah. I was the guy who walked up behind you to grab the reporter’s attention.”
Theresa lowered her head not wanting to remember that horrible day. “Oh.” She softly whispered.
Ethan took his hand to her sweet soft skin, and lifted her face.
“Silk.” He said in amazement.
Theresa searched his deep blue eyes as he caught her gaze. Who was this stranger. She thought to herself. Why was she feeling a burning sensation down in her belly? It’s as if she knew him since the beginning of time.
Her dark auburn hair fell forward over her face. Ethan took his hand and ran his fingers through her hair to lift it from off its temporary home.
“Oh…” Theresa managed when she heard a woman’s voice.
“Ethan darling.” Candance called out to him.
Ethan turned to face Candance and placed his guilty hands in his pockets.
“Candance! What are you…! What are you doing out here?”
“I got worried darling. I was wondering what was taking you so long.” She said peering behind him taking a hard look at Theresa.
Ethan side stepped, and introduced the two women.
“Oh! Ms. Candance Brigden, this is…” Ethan didn’t know what her name was.
Theresa smiled and answered for him.
“Hi.” She said reaching out her hand at Candance. “I’m Theresa Weiland. Mrs. Theresa Weiland.” She said waving her left hand through her hair making sure her wedding band showed.
Damn! Ethan thought to himself. He wondered who the lucky bastard was who had the pleasure of making love to this beautiful creature anytime he wanted.
“Weiland, Weiland!” Candance repeated. “I’m not sure a Weiland runs in our circle. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of you.” She retorted.
“Oh is that right?” Theresa said giving a sly smile.
“No, can’t remember meeting any little Hispanic girls.” She said rather snotty putting her arm through Ethan’s.
“Hmm! Well Candy Cane, I guess you should read the labels of your clothes. Because you just happen to be wearing a Theresa Weiland’s original.”
And with that, Theresa moved passed the two, and headed back to Whitney, leaving Candance flushed with embarrassment, and Ethan very intrigued.
