Summary: Ethan and Theresa dance under the stars.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters from “Passions” Soap Opera.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ethan walked around his bedroom wondering what spot he was suppose to meet Theresa at. Seeing that it was such a warm night, he put on some sweat shorts and a T-shirt. He slipped on his socks and gym shoes along with his cardigan and headed down the stairs.

It was nearly 1:30 in the morning, and he believed that everyone was asleep. He walked passed the family room and saw a soft light glowing.

When he stepped inside, he saw his mother sitting by the fireplace.

“Hi mother! Is everything O.K.?”

“Oh hi honey.” She said motioning for her son to come near her.

“Did you have a good time tonight?”

“It was a very nice evening.” Ethan said smiling.

“Are you heading out?”

“Yes, I’m meeting someone.”

“Who is she?” Ivy smiled.

Ethan lit up as his mother asked whom the girl was he was going to meet.

“By the look on your face she must be very special.”

“She is mother. I have never met anyone quite like her before.”

“Who is her family? Is she from Harmony?”

“Yes. Her family has lived here for years. In fact you know Dr. Fitzgerald and Pilar from the tailoring shop.”

“Oh yes. Pilar and Martin. Good family. I thought they had daughters. Which one did you fall for?”

“Her name is Theresa. Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald. She’s home for the summer.”

“I guess she didn’t stand a chance of not falling for you. When you set out to win a young woman’s heart, you capture it all the way.”

“That’s not true mother. I’ve never been quite lucky with girls, but I have to say that my luck has definitely changed with this one.”

“Well when are we going to meet this lovely girl who has stolen my son’s heart?”

“I don’t know. I never thought about it.”

“Well you should be thinking about it. We would love to meet her.”

“Thanks mother, I love you.”

Ethan leaned down and kissed his mother and headed out the door.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was now 1:45am, and Ethan still hadn’t figured out where he was going.

“Meet me at our spot…” He trailed off.

The sky was beautiful. It was nearly a billion stars lighting the sky.

“I wonder how the sun will look when it rises to something so beautiful?” Ethan said to himself.

“That’s it! I know where our spot is, the wharf.”

Ethan rushed to meet the love of his life at the bench they had shared that beautiful morning at.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Ethan reached the wharf, Theresa was sitting wrapped in a huge blanket.

She looked up at the man who seemed to have run all the way there.

“You made it.” She said giving him a sweet smile.

“Yes I did. I wouldn’t miss meeting you for nothing else in the world.”

“Well now that you’re here, let’s go.”

Ethan looked at her in confusion.

“Where are we going.”

“You’ll see.”

Theresa handed him what looked liked a very large picnic basket while she carried two blankets. They walked down to the beach that seemed to be very deserted, but very beautiful.

They took their shoes and socks off and felt how warm the sand felt between their toes.

When they reached the spot near the water, Theresa spread out one of the blankets, and left the other folded in the sand.

They both took their seats and Ethan handed her the basket.

“So, what do you have in here?”

Theresa opened the basket and pulled out two wineglasses.

“I brought the same kind of wine you brought to Whitney’s house the night we had dinner. I figured it was one of your favorites.”

“It is, but you didn’t have to…”

Theresa cut him off.

“I know you think I didn’t have to, but I did. You have been very nice to me this summer and I thought I would return the favor.”

“Thank you Theresa. I think this is very nice.”

Theresa looked at him disappointed that he didn’t call her Terri. She thought she made it clear in her note that it was O.K.

Ethan felt rather nervous about calling her Terri. He still wasn’t sure if he should use her nickname. He didn’t know what to do.

“Well anyway, this was my way of saying thanks Ethan for giving me such a wonderful summer.”

“It’s not over yet. You still have another week left before you go back to school, and I have made some plans that I think you would enjoy.”

“I’m sure if I’m with you, I’ll have a wonderful time.”

Ethan smiled at her compliment.

After they toasted to one another and had a couple of glasses, Theresa suggested that they go for a swim.

“I’m not prepared for a swim.” Ethan said in disappointment.

“Do you have on boxers?” She asked snickering.

“As a matter of fact I do.” Ethan blushed.

Theresa pulled out a pair of brand new boxer shorts that were neatly folded in the basket.

“What else do you have in that basket?” He said peeking.

Theresa laughed.

“I have two large towels and a swimming cap if you need it.”

“Well what are we waiting for, lets go swimming.”

They both rushed to get their clothes off.

Theresa had on a one-piece bathing suit that nearly knocked Ethan off his feet when he saw her in it.

“Last one in is a rotten egg.” She yelled, and took off running.

“I’m gonna catch you!” Ethan yelled after her.

They both ran down to the water and jumped in. When Ethan caught up to her he grabbed her around her waist and threw her down with him falling on top of her.

“Gotcha!” Ethan said huffing.

Theresa was breathing very hard under him, and smiling equally as hard.

“Now that you got me sir, what are you going to do to me?”

“Oh I can think of a few things.” He said smiling.

All of a sudden he began to look very serious in the eyes of the woman who has haunted his dreams these past few weeks.

He wanted to just leaned down and kiss her with all he had in him. She was so beautiful lying there in the water under the moonlit sky. He wanted to show her in that kiss how much he wanted her to be a part of his life.

Just as he began to lean forward, Theresa tossed water in his face and wiggled her way from under him and began to laugh.

“I thought you had me Crane. Are you losing your touch?”

“Come here you!” He shouted.

Theresa and Ethan played water tag for about another forty-five minutes. They had so much fun dumping one another in the water, and trying to swim while holding hands. It was a wonderful night indeed.

When they came out of the water back to the blanket, they dried themselves with the towels Theresa brought with her.

“You thought of everything didn’t you?”

“I believe so.” She said smiling.

She handed him the pair of dry boxes she brought and promised him that she wouldn’t peek.

“Well I won’t peek either when you take that wet swim suit off, unless you won’t me to.”

“Oh Ethan!” She said lightly pounding his chest as he grabbed her arm.

Ethan pulled her close to him and could feel her heart beating very fast.

“I would love to take a little peek.” He softly whispered.

“You would wouldn’t you?” She whispered back.

Ethan licked his lips and tightened his grip on her.

“You stir up things inside of me that I never knew existed. I’ve dreamt of doing things with you I never thought about doing with anyone else. You drive me crazy Theresa.”

“It’s Terri. You can call me Terri.” Her heart beating faster.

“Terri it is.” He whispered softer.

Just as he leaned down to take her lips, she spoke.

“We really should get out of these wet clothes. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for the Crane heir catching pneumonia.”

Ethan slowly let go of the grip he held of her and turned to put his clothes on as she turned to put on hers.

After they dressed they had another glass of wine, and Theresa pulled out a small cassette player.

“Chad and I recorded our song. Would you like to hear it?”

“Of course I would. He didn’t tell me you did this.”

“I wanted it to be a surprise.”

As the music began, Ethan stood up.

“May I have this dance?” He said reaching out his hand.

“Of course you may.” She said standing and falling into his arms.

“A perfect fit.” She said looking into his eyes.

“I think you’re right. You know, you are a very good dancer.”

“Thank you. I took dance lessons in high school. I was never really a good dancer before that.”

“That’s hard to believe.” He said smiling.

“No, it’s true. I think I had two left feet.” She said laughing.

“Well your feet seem perfect now.”

“Yeah, I have gotten better at it.”

“What triggered you to take the lessons?”

“Well, I went to my eighth grade sock hop dance and stood on the wall the whole evening. I turned down every boy who asked me to dance. I was really afraid.

“But then, there was this one boy who asked me to dance, and for some strange reason I couldn’t refuse. I always say that is was the gods of fate who gave me that little push into his arms.”

“What happened after that?” Ethan asked, very attentive to her story.

“Well we danced. I made it through the dance without stepping on his toes. And at that moment I knew that dancing was in my soul. I just needed a few lessons to become confident in doing it.

“The worse thing is, I never got to see the boy’s face. It was a masquerade party and everyone’s faces were covered. My father came to pick me up early because my brother Luis was in a car accident.”

“How awful.” Ethan said pulling her closer in his arms.

“Anyway, I just figured that it wasn’t meant for me to see, or to know who the boy was that I danced with that night. I’ve been to many dances, and danced with a lot of boys since then, but it has never felt like the arms of that little mystery boy.

“But dancing with you makes me feel like that little girl again. I don’t know Ethan, it could be the romance of the evening, but I feel so wanted, so loved when I’m dancing in your arms.”

Theresa laid her head on his chest and closed her eyes.

“Terri, what school did you go to?”

Still dancing with her eyes closed she answered him.

“My little sisters went to that school. I believe one of them are the same age as you are.”

“That’s nice.” Theresa sighed.

“Terri, don’t you see? I think I was at that sock hop that night.”

Theresa slowly opened her eyes, but her head remained on his chest.

“What costume were you wearing?” He asked her.

“A belly dancers outfit. My face was covered in a purple veil.”

Theresa felt the grip tighten on her.

“The little boy was wearing a…”

Ethan cut her off.

“A President Reagan Mask.” He said in disbelief.

Theresa slowly looked up into his eyes.

“That’s right Ethan. How did you know?”

Ethan put his hand up to her cheek and gently rubbed it.

“I know because… I was that little boy. I was there that night. My sister wanted me to go, but I refused at first. But eventually I gave in.

“I wasn’t a very good dancer either, but when I saw the little girl who stood on the wall that night, dressed in such a pretty costume, something pushed me to ask her to dance.”

Theresa could hardly believe what she was hearing.

“Well anyway, I remember being so nervous about dancing with her. But I just had to. And when she fell into my arms, just as you did tonight, I knew I would make it through the dance without hurting her feet.”

Theresa was silent. No words could compliment the moment.

It had been Ethan she had been searching for her whole life.

“What are you thinking about?” Ethan asked dreamily.

“I’m thinking about how much I want you to kiss me at this very moment.” She responded with a hazy look.

“I thought you would never ask.” He said.

Ethan leaned down and placed his lips on top of hers. He parted her lips with his tongue and found it’s way to hers. Their tongues danced with delight as they stood under the starry sky.

Ethan ravished her mouth. He didn’t want her to forget this moment. He truly loved the woman who was standing before him. He wanted to tell her, but thought better of it. He didn’t want to move too fast. He just wanted to continue kissing her with all he had in him.

It was a perfect ending to a perfect evening.
