Chapter 10 ~ A Changed Mind, and a Forgiving Heart

Ethan fixed his tie in the mirror. He thought to himself. 'I wish I knew a way to let Gwen down easily, but there is no other way. She will be upset either way. I just hope she doesn’t do anything foolish.'
“Stop being such a coward Ethan, you can do this. If you love Theresa like you say you do, nothing or no one else should matter. Now get it together and do what you know is right.”
Ethan and Gwen pulled up to the one-month-old restaurant. When he stepped passed the dance floor his mind went back to the night he and Theresa danced so closely. How he wanted to kiss her and make her his. How later he did kiss her and made her his. But then he lost her. He vowed that if he got another chance, he would never let her go.
Not long after Ethan and Gwen arrived, Theresa and Noah came in. Theresa was dressed in a sleeveless black mini dress that showed off every curve generously. Gwen spotted the couple and invited them over to their table. What was a table for two quickly became a table for four.
Ethan was disappointed because he wanted this night to be the night he broke up with Gwen for good.
“You two make such a beautiful couple,” Gwen said with her arm around Ethan.
Theresa and Noah smiled at one another and said “Thank you.”
“Oh isn’t that cute. Speaking at the same time. I’m surprised Theresa. I thought that was for married couples only. Wasn’t that cute Ethan?”
“Yeah, very.” Ethan was not enthused about being there and it really showed.
However, Theresa played her cards to the nines. Laughing at Noah’s every joke. Dancing every dance with him. She made everyone in the restaurant believe that Noah was her one and only true love.
Ethan couldn’t believe his luck when Noah asked Gwen to dance.
"Sure Noah, I would love to dance.”
When they left the table, Ethan looked at Theresa and said, “I sure have missed you Theresa.”
“I’m with Noah now.” Theresa remarked.
Ethan grabbed her hands and said, “Theresa please, tell me you still love me. Tell me it's not too late for us. Give me another chance. Please!”
Theresa pulled her hands away from him. “It's too late Ethan. My place is with Noah now.”
“Theresa please! You do not love him, you love me. Your life is with me.”
“And Gwen knows that!” Theresa snapped back.
“Well no, not yet.”
Theresa laughed and said, “You Cranes are all alike. How can my life be with you Ethan? How can you tell me you love me when you are still dating a clueless Gwen? You don’t love me, you just love your own damn self, and I can’t believe what I ever saw in you.”
“Theresa please don’t say that. I do love you.”
“Well prove it! Go to Gwen right now and tell her. Tell her you want to be with me and not her. Tell her your future is with me! Tell her Ethan! Tell her!”
Ethan looked down at the table with sadness in his eyes. Theresa looked at him, with tears falling, and said, “I thought so.” Theresa then got up and ran out of the room.
“Theresa wait,” Ethan jumping up, calling after her.
Noah walked up to Ethan and said, “What did you say to her? How can you treat her like that when you know that she loves you?” Noah ran out to catch up with Theresa.
Gwen looked at Ethan and said, “What is going on? She loves you? Ethan explain this to me! Now!”
Ethan looked at Gwen with tears in his eyes. “Yes Gwen that’s right, she loves me. She loves me and … and I love her. I hated for this to come out this way, but I can’t live a lie anymore. I love Theresa Lopez Fitzgerald!”
“Ethan how could you?” Gwen said angrily.
“I don’t know Gwen. It just kind of happened. I can’t stand here knowing that she has run off some where. I have to find her.” And he ran off leaving a mortified Gwen standing at their dinner table.
Ethan saw Noah standing out side of the restaurant. “Noah where is she? Where did she go?”
“I don’t know Ethan. But she did tell me that if you asked, for you to follow your heart.”

Ethan drove around for a while not knowing where to go until something hit him.
Ethan got out of his car and stepped up to the door. The door was ajar, so he went inside.
Inside there were candles burning and soft music playing. A bottle of Champagne was chilling on the table with two glasses half full. Ethan sat his keys on the table next to him. Suddenly, from behind, hands touched his shoulders and slid down his arms to his fingertips. His arms then lifted slowly above his head as the hands moved seductively to his chest. Ethan put his hands on his cohort’s arms and turned his body around slowly. He looked deep into Theresa’s eyes and leaned closely taking her lips to his wanting orifice.
Theresa gave a great sigh as Ethan’s tongue met her neck. Her chest now heaving great sighs as he placed one hand beneath her, lifting her, and the other behind her neck letting her hair flow backwards.
“Oh Theresa,” Ethan cried out.
“Oh Ethan,” Theresa gasped.
“I love you so much,” Ethan replied as he placed Theresa down on the sofa waiting beneath them. “I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t forgiven me.”
Theresa, still kissing him between words said, “I love you Ethan. You are my life. You help me breathe in and out everyday. There is no way I could live without you.” Ethan then started undressing a ready Theresa. Slowly lifting her dress above her head and kissing her neck as he continued undressing her.
“Oh Ethan,” Theresa cried.
“Theresa I’ve got to have you right here, right now!”
“Yes Ethan! Now!”
Ethan looked up, turned to the door, and went and locked it. He then looked at Theresa and said, “Are you sure?”
“Yes Ethan,” Theresa said softly. “I trust you.”
Ethan walked to Theresa, picked her up and carried her into the bedroom. There he made love to her. The passion between them exploded into the night. Never in her wildest dreams did she ever think that he would make her feel this good. She gave Ethan her heart, and Ethan gave his heart to her. All night he showed her love, and made her feel loved. This was his destiny, and fate had showed him the way.
Ethan never again made Theresa feel unwanted, and Theresa received her dream to ride off to that palace filled with love, for her Prince Charming whisked her away just like she said he would on their beautiful white horse.
