Summary: Theresa told Whitney about her and Ethan’s intimacy. Gwen and Ethan go to the Book Café to talk about what happened to their relationship. Theresa runs away when she sees Ethan and Gwen kissing. Theresa missed Ethan’s call at 9:10.

Theresa paced back and forth wondering if the phone was going to ring again. She couldn't believe she missed Ethan's call.
"This isn't happening." Theresa said to herself rubbing her forehead. "Why hasn't he called me back?"
Theresa went back to the clock just to see if she had made a mistake when looking at the time.
"9:17." She said disappointed.
Theresa went back to the phone and tried Ethan's number again, but as it started to ring her doorbell rang.
"Who could that be? It's too early for company."
Theresa went to the door and peeped through the peephole.
"Oh my goodness!" Theresa shouted.
She swung the door opened so that it nearly came off the hinges.
"Ethan! You're here!" Theresa jumped into Ethan's arms with her legs wrapped around his waist. "I can't believe you're here. What are you doing here?" She said in between kisses.
"I'm glad to see you too baby." Ethan said carrying her inside the house.
"Oh baby I am so sorry I missed your call. I was so wrapped up in thoughts of the past that I didn't hear the phone ringing. I tried calling, but you didn't pick up. Is something wrong with your phone?"
"No. It just doesn't work well in that elevator coming all the way up here. You know that."
"I didn't know you were coming Ethan. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Haven't you ever heard of surprises?" Ethan said standing her up.
"You know, I love you more and more everyday Mr. Crane. You and this hairy beard you’ve grown.” Theresa said stroking it.
"I'm glad, because I love you more and more everyday also Ms. Lopez. Soon to be Mrs. Lopez-Crane. Did you see today’s paper?"
"No. Actually I drank a little of my morning coffee, and tried to watch a little TV, but I haven't had a chance to read my paper yet." Theresa said walking to the table where her paper sat.
"Turn to the Society Page." Ethan said smiling.
Theresa turned to the page and saw a huge picture of her and Ethan.
Theresa smiled as she read:
FASHION DESIGNER THERESA LOPEZ TO MARRY ATTORNEY ETHAN CRANE. Ethan Crane and Theresa Lopez has finally set the date for the up coming nuptials. These two lovebirds have been together for sometime now, and were waiting for Theresa to finish school. And now that the day has arrived Attorney Crane says it's full speed ahead. He can't wait until he makes Theresa his wife. And he quotes: "I love Theresa with all my heart. She's truly my soul's mate and I will love her even after death." Everybody who’s anybody will be there. It is the most talked about event since Brittany Spears wedding to Prince William.
"Oh Ethan this is beautiful."
"I thought you might like it."
"No, I love it Ethan. I love you and I can't believe this day is finally coming."
"There is nothing that can keep us apart. This day will come, and we will live happily ever after just like we dreamed."
Theresa had a disturbing look on her face.
"What's the matter baby? Did I say something wrong?"
"I think fate is at work again Ethan. Something doesn't feel right. I have never missed your call before. What do you think it's trying to tell us?"
"I think it's trying to tell us that you worry too much."
"Don't joke Ethan. It bothered me that I missed your call."
"Don't let it sweetie. We control our destiny remember?"
"Yes Ethan but..."
"But nothing." Ethan said taking Theresa in his arms. "I love you so much. I would fight Satan himself if he tried to separate us."
"You know you have a way of making me feel better."
"Good! Now let me show you a way of making you feel better."
Ethan chased Theresa into the bedroom.

Theresa and Ethan lay in bed wrapped in each other’s arms and he strokes her soft dark brown hair.
“Theresa, what were you thinking about earlier to make you miss my call?”
“I was thinking about the day you told your parents that you loved me.”
“I guess this picture sitting on the side of the bed reminded you of that day.”
“Yes I guess it did.”
“We both have grown a lot since then. And you stop running every time you thought that you could lose me.”
“Yeah well, you’ve convinced me that I am the woman you love, and that love has made me more confident.”
Ethan and Theresa both remembered that day.

“Theresa! Theresa slow down please!”
Ethan caught up with her and stopped her in the park.
“Ethan how could you. How could you kiss her after we made…”
Theresa tried to run again.
“Theresa stop. Don’t you run from me again.” Ethan said grabbing her and pulling her close to him.
“I didn’t kiss her.”
“Ethan I may be naïve about a lot of things, but I know a man and woman when they’re kissing.”
“Theresa please hear me out.”
“No Ethan, I was a fool to think that I could fit in within your world. There is no way that your family will accept me, and I love you too much to cause grief between you and them. Just let me go and I will find a way to get over you.”
“Come here Theresa, and sit down.”
Ethan led Theresa to a near by park bench. He grabbed both of her hands.
“Theresa you are naïve, but that’s because you’re still quite young. Yes you are a woman in more ways than one, but there is still a lot you have to learn. I talked with my family today and I told them that I love you and wanted a future with you. At first they tried to give me grief but I wouldn’t back down. You mean too much to me. I thought for sure that grandfather was going to disown me, but I received the shock of my life. He told me that he liked the fact that I stood up for what I wanted, and that is what being a Crane is all about. So you see, he supports our relationship 100%.”
“Ethan that’s wonderful.” Theresa said still looking down.
“Well what’s wrong then? I just told you that Allister Crane gave us his blessing and you look like it’s the end of the world.”
“Well it is the end of the world if you keep kissing Gwen!”
“Oh yeah Gwen. Theresa I’m not sure if you will believe me or not, but Gwen saw you and Whitney come in and pretended that everything was O.K. between the two of us. She wanted you to run away from me, and you fell for it.”
“Ethan I do love you, and I trust you, but I’m not sure if I could compete with the love you and Gwen shared.”
“I know you’re kidding right? I’m counting on the love that we two share to be better than anything that I have ever experienced. I just need to know that you are with me. Are you?”
Theresa looked in her lover’s eyes.
“I do love you Ethan, and I’m not giving up without a fight. If Gwen thinks she can intimidate me again, she has another thing coming.”
“That’s my girl.”
Ethan cupped Theresa’s face and kissed her lovingly on the lips.
“I love you.” He whispered.
“I love you too.” Theresa said.
“Do you want to come to the beach house with me?”
“Actually I have something I have to do, but we can meet there tonight around eight O.K.?”
Ethan looked disappointed but agreed.
“Do you have time to go back to the Book Café? I would like to talk to Chad.”
Theresa nodded. “Yes, I would like to talk to him myself.”
“Great.” Ethan said taking her by the hand.
When they walked into the Book Café, Chad and Whitney smiled at them.
“Well it’s about time you two finally got together. I almost gave up hope.”
“Chad I do believe that your faith helped us out a bit.” Ethan said shaking his hand.
“Well I try. I try.” Chad said stroking his chin.
Theresa wrapped her arms around Chad’s neck and told him thank you, and smiled as they all watched him blush.
“Well I guess this cause for a celebration. But first the new couple needs their picture taken.”
“Yes the first picture of your new relationship. How nice.” Whitney agreed.
Ethan and Theresa sat down on one of the couches in the Book Café, and smiled for their very first picture as an official couple.
Back at the Penthouse

“You know that was the first test of fate between us, but we passed with flying colors.”
“I know. It was scary for a moment, but we survived.”
“You know what I thought would do us in don’t you?”
“Yeah, how could I forget the letter in the mail. I thought that we couldn’t get through that one, but somehow we did.”
Theresa leaned over and kissed Ethan once again before they got up and took a very hot and steamy shower together.
