"Good Morning Baby Girl." Ethan said stretching.
"Morning? Don't you mean afternoon?"
"Afternoon? Is it really that late."
"It's almost one o'clock."
"Wow! I can't believe it's that late." Ethan said getting out of the bed. "There's a lot I have to do before the party tonight."
"Party? What party? Theresa said cheesing.
Ethan climbed on top of her. "You know what party I'm talking about. You know your family can't let you come to town and not make a big deal about it. Besides, there's a big surprise awaiting you my dear."
"What is it Ethan, tell me?"
Ethan stood up. "Oh no! It's a surprise, and I'm not telling."
"Please Ethan, tell me."
"No! Just know that it will make you cry."
"I can't believe you won't tell me." She pouted.
Ethan pulled her to her feet. "Don't pout baby girl. Come take a shower with me. I need to feel your arms around me."
"No Ethan. You go ahead. I need to make a couple of phone calls. And I would like to put some coffee on as well."
"Forget the damn coffee woman. Come take a shower with me."
"Aren't we horny this morning." Theresa giggled.
"Fine then. Don't take one with me. I've taken cold showers before." And he marches off to the bathroom.
Theresa went out into the living room, and thoughts of the night before came zooming to her mind.
"I can't believe Ethan did all this for me last night. I feel more loved than I've ever felt in my life."
Theresa took the champagne glasses into the kitchen and put some coffee on. She walked back out into the front room and picked up the phone, but put it back down when she looked at the three flowers Ethan gave her last night. She picked one up and was amazed at how the fragrance of it flowed through her nostrils.
"I love you so much Ethan, I just can't shake this feeling that something may go wrong." She said to herself. "No! Stop it Theresa! Everything is going to be all right. Ethan is not going to let anything happen to me. Or our love."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Ethan brought the soap to lather. He couldn't believe what kind of woman Theresa was. She was perfect in every way. He couldn't imagine his life without her. She could make him laugh and cry all in the same moment.
"Theresa is more than a woman. She's a goddess. I can't believe how lucky I am to be marrying such a perfect woman."
"Oh I wouldn't say perfect." Theresa said stepping into the shower. "Goddess, yes, perfect, no." She said laughing.
"Theresa." Ethan whispered.
"Why is this water so cold?" She snickered.
Ethan adjusted the temperature of the water and turned to face his baby girl.
"Is that better?"
"Ooh yeah. Much better."
"I thought you didn't want to take a shower with me."
"What a foolish girl I was to pass up a chance to feel your arms around me, and your hands touching me."
"Yes you were. You foolish girl. Just think you almost missed out on this." Ethan kissed her shoulders.
"And this." He kissed her neck.
"Ooh and this." Ethan cupped Theresa's face and gave her a kiss that made her almost melt away.
"You're perfect Mr. Crane."
"That's true baby girl. But it's your love that makes me perfect."
Theresa kissed Ethan's chest and slid her hands down the side of his body. Seductively rubbing up and down made him give a low moan.
"What are you doing to me Theresa?"
"Do you like it?"
"Come here. I'll show you what I like."
Ethan picked her up with her legs wrapped around his waist and pushed her back against the wall of the shower. He began to come slowly in and out of her, making her feel complete ecstasy. Her arms were wrapped tightly around his neck, and she had no intentions of letting him go any time soon.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
That evening while riding to the Seascape Restaurant, Theresa was unusually quiet. She was so excited about seeing her family, but was a little nervous at seeing Ivy.
Ivy had a problem with Ethan being with Theresa. She liked her and all, but she had rather seen her son married into a rich family. Theresa, nor Ethan could understand why Ivy couldn't get use to the fact that Theresa would be the girl that Ethan wanted to spend his life with. It wasn't like he wasn't the heir to the Crane Dynasty. But then they found out the truth with Ethan's paternity.
"Why are you so quiet baby girl?"
"No reason. I'm just excited about seeing my family."
"Are you nervous about seeing my mother?"
"Is she going to be there?"
"She said she may stop by."
"Hmm."
"What was that Hmm for?"
"Nothing. I guess I am a little nervous about seeing her. She never really gave us her blessing. And she really resented me when the truth came out about Sam Bennett being your father."
"Don't call that man my father Theresa! Julian is my father. He's the man who raised me, not Sam Bennett."
"Well that's just because Ivy kept it a secret all these years."
"That's enough Theresa. I don't want to discuss Sam Bennett."
"I'm sorry baby." Theresa said putting her hand on Ethan's knee. "I didn't mean to upset you. I just want your mother to accept me as a daughter and not the witch who stole you away."
"You didn't steal me. I came willingly. I love you, and I'm sure that whatever feelings my mother had in the past, is over now. You're a well-established Fashion Designer for goodness sake. You don't need me or the Crane name."
"Oh but you're wrong dear. I do need you. I need every part of you. You are my life, my joy. Without your love I couldn't survive. I couldn't breathe. All my success would be for naught if I couldn't share it with you."
Ethan grabbed Theresa's hand. "Have I told you how much I loved you lately?"
"Yes, about three seconds ago." Theresa said smiling.
"Well, good. Because I don't want you too ever forget that. Whether my mother accepts you or not, I will never stop loving you."
Ethan kissed Theresa's hand as they pulled up to the restaurant where their family and friends were waiting. When they walked up to the door, Ethan pulled her into a deep passionate kiss.
"What was that for?" Theresa said with a mesmerized look on her face.
"Do I need a reason to kiss my baby girl?"
Theresa hugged Ethan, and they entered the ballroom of the Seascape Restaurant.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The ballroom was gorgeous. It was decorated in Theresa's favorite colors, and balloons were everywhere. Fresh flowers scented the room that smelled simply divine. There was a live orchestra, and the room was already filled with Theresa and Ethan's family and friends.
As soon as the guest saw them enter, they exploded into thunderous applause. Theresa couldn't believe all the people who came to see her. Even people she went to high school and college with was there. Ethan's sisters and his brother Evan were there as well.
Evan was the youngest Crane, and he was in his second year at Berkeley University. He was also dating Kay Bennett. They were very serious, and were engaged to be married in two years.
"Mi hija!" Pilar cried out to her daughter.
"Mama! It's so good to see you."
"I've missed you daughter." Pilar said hugging her as Ethan walked away giving her family some time alone with her.
"Mama, where is Miguel, Luis and Sheridan?"
"Right behind you sis."
Miguel stood proud and tall. You could hardly believe that he was the youngest of the Lopez-Fitzgerald clan.
"Miguel! Luis!"
Luis picked his little sister up and swung her around.
"Sista! It's so good to see you."
"Pass her along here Luis. I've missed her too you know."
Luis handed Theresa off to Miguel who was as equally strong as their brother Luis.
"I can't believe you are tossing me around like this." Theresa laughed.
"We just really missed you Theresa. And we're glad that you came home."
"I've missed you guys also. I have definitely been gone too long. Luis, where is Sheridan and my niece and nephew?"
"They're around here somewhere. You won't believe how big they are now. Hosea is four already. Can you believe it? And Terri liked the presents you sent her last month for her second birthday."
"I wasn't sure if she could fit the sweaters. But I thought she could wear them come this winter."
"Everything is wonderful Theresa. Sheridan and I love every gift. We always knew you had a special connection with Terrisita, being your name sake and all."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald!"
Theresa turned around to see her best friend Whitney standing behind her.
"Whitney Russell-Harris!"
The two girls screamed and hugged one another.
"Look at you Whit. I can't believe how well marriage agrees with you. You are beautiful.
"And what about you honey. My heart flip every time I see a bill board advertising your next line."
"Oh no! You are the famous one. Three gold medals! My goodness Whit. Are you going to give someone else a chance to win."
"Not if I can help it. But then again, come next spring I won't be able to play much tennis." Whitney said rubbing her stomach.
"What do you mean Whit?"
Whitney looked down at her belly and patted.
"Ahhhh! Whitney No! I can't believe this!"
Both the girls screamed out in excitement.
"When did you find out? How far along are you? Will it be a boy or a girl?
"Calm down Theresa. One question at a time, please. I found out yesterday. I went in for a routine check up because I have some matches coming up, and the doctor told me that I was pregnant. I liked to flip off the table. I'm seven weeks."
"I'm so jealous. I can't believe out of the two of us, you will be the first to have a baby."
"I know! Isn't it awesome?"
"Awesome doesn't describe it Whit. This is just so wonderful."
"What did Chad say?"
"I'll tell you what He said." Chad said walking up behind Theresa and Whitney.
"Hi Chad," she said hugging her friend.
"My wife is going to have a baby, and my life couldn't be more perfect. Now the love that Whitney and I share will be manifested into a living creature. I couldn't be more happy." Chad hugged and kissed Whitney, as Theresa couldn't help but to shed a tear.
"I knew it wouldn't be long before you would start crying baby girl."
"Ethan, did you hear the news. They're having a baby!"
"I know Hun. It's all very exciting."
"Ethan Crane! Was this the surprise you were telling me about? I can't believe you didn't tell me." Theresa said hitting his arm.
"Ouch, Theresa! I just found out myself. There is another surprise for you tonight. And don't ask me what it is, you'll just have to wait." He said walking off.
"Ethan Crane, you come back here!" Theresa called after him. But he was already gone.
"Oh Whitney." Theresa said hugging her friend. "I am so happy for you and Chad. You both deserve all the happiness in the world."
"Thank you Theresa. Boy have I missed you."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
This night was absolutely the best for Theresa. The music was great, and she danced with almost every guy in the room. Every one that is except for Ethan. Every now and then they would give each other seductive looks at one another, while the other was talking to someone else. But Ethan made sure that everyone got a chance to talk with Theresa. She was his, and he knew that. He could share her, even though it was killing him to do so.
"Theresa dear. How are you?"
"Mrs. Crane." Theresa said very shyly.
"Theresa honey, call me Ivy, please. After all I will be your mother-in-law soon."
Theresa couldn't believe her ears.
"Ivy."
"Don't be so choked up dear. I want to apologize for not accepting you before. I thought I knew what was best for my son, and obviously I didn't. I'm grateful to you for giving me back my relationship with him. If it weren't for you, I don't think Ethan would have ever forgiven me for not telling him that Sam was his father."
"It's nothing Mrs.… Ivy. I love Ethan, and I know how much he loves you. It was hard for him at first to find out he's not what he believed himself to be for years. And it is still hard for him to accept Sam, but he loves you. And his heart has always been big enough to forgive."
"You're right Theresa. My son is one of a kind."
"He surely is. That's one of the reasons I love him so much."
Ivy put her arms around Theresa and hugged her very tightly. This was more than she had hoped for. But soon something stranger happened.
"Hello Theresa!"
This voice was cold and resentful. The hoarseness of it needed to constantly be cleared.
"Gwen?"
"That's right. It's good to see that you haven't forgotten me."
Right at that moment Ethan, Chad, Luis, and Miguel stepped up in front of Theresa to block Gwen from getting close to her.
"My My My boys." She said with a chuckled. "Four strong handsome men against little old me. What do I owe the pleasure of your attention?"
"What are you doing here Gwen?" Ethan said angrily.
"My My Ethan. Can't I come to pay respects to the lovely Theresa?"
"Now that's a joke. When was the last time you ever respected anyone?"
"Such nasty comments from a man who was once engaged to yours truly."
"It's O.K. Ethan." Theresa said walking up. "I don't mind her being here."
"See boys. Theresa's a big girl. She seems capable of taking care of herself."
"Are you sure baby girl?" Ethan said putting his arm around her.
"Yes. There won't be any trouble here tonight I'm sure. I would like to see what she wants."
Ethan and the rest walked off but not too far from where Gwen and Theresa stood.
"What do you want Gwen?"
"Theresa dear, you don't have to be so cold. I don't resent you anymore. I'm over what happened in the past. Besides, you didn't make Ethan fall in love with you. It was...What do you call it... Fate? It's not like you planned little stuff to make sure he saw you all the time. Or even made him jealous when he would see you with other men. Fate was very kind to you, and now you'll soon reap the benefits."
Theresa was very shaken with the words Gwen said. They were all true, but there was no way she could have found out any of that.
"Thank you Gwen for understanding."
"Oh I understand all too well. The bible teaches us that we reap what we sow, and I believe you shall reap all of the things you have ever sown. I'm sure."
An ice cold feeling came over Theresa at the sound of Gwen's words. She wasn't sure why Gwen was being so cocky. But she dismissed it out of her mind.
"My what a lovely little necklace you're wearing. Wherever did you get it?"
"It was a gift from one of my admirers I suppose. There was no return address on the package."
"Wow! Aren't we something."
Just at that moment Ethan walked up to the ladies and put his arm around Theresa.
"Are you ready for your surprise", he said still unsure about Gwen's motives for being there.
"Yes, Ethan, I'm ready."
"Well don't let me keep you." Gwen said with a cackle.
"We weren't." Ethan snapped as Gwen turned around and left the restaurant.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention?"
Everyone quieted down as Ethan spoke into the mike.
"First of all, I'm sure we are all glad to see Harmony's own, Fashion Designer, Theresa Lopez back in town."
Everyone cheered and applauded as Theresa smiled at the excitement of it all.
"And we all came to welcome her back home. But there is one more reason for gathering here tonight."
There were whispers all around the room, and Theresa had no idea what was going on.
"Attention everyone, please, please quiet down." Ethan said trying to win their attention.
"Theresa and Miguel grew up without ever really spending anytime with their father because he disappeared when they were very young. But we hope to rectify that turn of events on tonight. Luis, bring in our surprise guest."
Everyone in the building turned and faced the doors of the ballroom. Everyone could not believe his or her eyes when Luis rolled in a man about 55 years old in a wheel chair. There were more Ooh and ahhs as they came to the middle of the dance floor.
"Attention ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce to everyone, Mr. Martin Fitzgerald."
Everyone in the place clapped as Theresa came close to the man she hardly ever called father.
"Papa? Is it really you?" She cried.
"Yes seniorita. It's your papa."
"Papa!"
Theresa ran to the man in the wheel chair and dropped to her knees. She wept holding on tightly to his legs and laid her head in his lap.
"Papa, Papa." She cried over and over. "I can't believe it's you."
There wasn't a dry eye in the place. Ethan and Luis had somehow found Martin Fitzgerald. He had been missing for over 20 years with amnesia. He recently remembered his life in Harmony and the wife he left behind. He still wasn't sure how he ended up in a wheel chair or what went wrong the night he disappeared, but one thing was for sure, he remembered Pilar, and his children. Especially his little girl, Theresa.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Outside the restaurant, Gwen sat in her car with a deceitful smile on her face.
"I assume you saw it boss."
"Didn't your mother ever teach you not to assume?" She snapped.
"Yes… Um… Boss, I just...."
"I know, and yes, she's wearing it. Just as I suspected. And the delicious part of it all is that, she won't even see me coming."
Gwen laughed and said, "Check Mate!"
