Subject: ( Quietly done )

The dark gray colt slips gracefully around a naked tree, and his eyes, luminous and made mysterious by the unnatural light coming from their depths, momentarily leave their ponderous position on the moving ground beneath his hooves to inspect the gnarled branches, the flaking bark.... Slowly his attention is pulled from the unsightly spectacle of the leaveless tree, seeming to find the delicate stalks of grass below more interesting. His step is so light it looks as if the colt not only wishes to avoid crushing the grass, but is also succeeding. Nevertheless his small hopes or desires, he does not, and a slight trail of hoof prints mark his entrance like a scar plainly seen on a visage.

Minutes later from crossing the border the colt stops. Now an expert on this sort of thing, he takes on a patient air of someone who will wait until the end of time to get what he wants. In this case all he wants is information, perhaps a conversation, nothing more. Days ago this had been a mere idea lurking in the many thoughts that took residence in his mind. What had been the inspiration? He couldn't say. A memory of a dark figure flashes before his mind-eyes, and he shivers, though the memory becomes blank even as he recognizes it. And so, for a while the colt simply stands there, shivering shamelessly at a forgotten memory.

Demoness' appendages carry her near her son, whom had appaerntly gone out of home, without she knowing, eh?
Dark optics gaze at her son, if she could quirk a brow, she would. Whipcord stayed still. Vocal cords emitt a snort.

"Arvad..."

His thoughts bent under the weight of fear that had collapsed upon him, it takes him a minute or so to recognize the familiar voice, and a few seconds more to react. Slowly his shivering ceased, and his bright eyes turned to look at his mother. Silently he steps to her, his muzzle seeking to burrow itself under her head. A low nicker of greetings sounds from the colt, and he almost smiles with relief at the mare's presence.

Demoness' dark optics gaze at her son, she wondered why he came here, she would ask later. Auds swivel as he nickered. Plume flicked for a second. She nudges him.

"What are you doing Here?"

At her question, he shrugs his withers. A very difficult thing to do, but necessary since he still refuses to speak; play dumb and stupid, is the idea he lives by with his mother. He loves her, but at this moment he isn't quite ready to speak to her. Not until he's learned what he needs to know.

Arvad nuzzles her again and playfully reaches to snap gently at her twitching lobes. He didn't think that he could distract her completely, but he would certainly try.

Demoness snorts. Mug snaps at his flank, quite harshly. He WOULD tell her, if not he..-..

"Arvad, tell me now! What are you doing here, away from home?!?"

He grits his teeth as his mother's own connect with his gray flank, his gaze turning rebelliously downwards. Force won't call his tongue to dance, not while he is so set upon not speaking. When he had first began he hadn't realized that his mother would be so angry about it. After all, she had allowed him -- in a manner of speaking, since she hadn't said either "nay" or "yay"...did she even ever know about it? -- to go to the Snowball. What's the big deal, anyhow? It's not like someone is going to hurt him while he wanders. Besides, his glance skipping a few invisible stairs upwards, where had she disappeared to? And how about that stallion called Masterful Monarch? And how about his new little brother? With the completion of these mental questions, his eyes are once again steady and set upon the mare's. He won't speak, no....not until he gets what he wants....

Speaking of which...what does he want?

Demoness snorts. She would not spend her time here fighting with him. Auds pinned back. Hoof stomps at the soil.

"Good day Arvad. YOu may come home if you wish, if you don't then I won't force you to go back home, if you don't go back home, have a good life." What did she care? So he was no longer a little colt, he was getting older, she didn't feel like fighting with him, what did she care at the moment if he didn't come back? At the moment she didn't!
Appendages carry her out of the terrain at a gallop.

His breath stops at such words, his gaze wavering as he watches his mother turn her back on him and leave. She had left... a racking sob fights to break free, and he barely forces it back. Gingerly the colt backs away from the path the mare had taken, though his mind and heart cries for him to follow her, to make amends. But the colt is pushed away, torn onto another path that also leads out of the territory. And suddenly Arvad recognizes the invisible force pulling and pushing him from one territory into another to be separate from him: an outside influence that persists uncaringly. What does it care for such petty things as family feuds? There is a task that must be finished, and so it will be no matter what. So the colt leaves, his head down as he surrenders to the force that he cannot name.
