Predestined paths is a bit different from the idea of fate. Fate says what will happen will happen. Predestined paths is the idea that our life is already set out by the choices you will make in life.

I was thinking about time travel the other day, and Back to the Future. There are only two possible theories in time travel and one is even more far fetched than the idea of evolution. The far fetched idea, the one expressed in Back to the Future, is that whenever the past is changed, time splits off into a parallel dimension. This leaves a possibility for an infinite number of parallel dimensions. This idea destroy's everything any scientist or religious person has the idea and has no evidence its true what-so-ever. Its considered psuedoscience to believe it.

The other idea is this: time travel is impossible. To go back into time and change the past would change the present we know today, only we wouldn't realize it because we would have lived our lives believing the change was never changed. Under that idea, everything that will ever occur under time travel has already happened because its in the passed. Now, if everything has already happened then it can't be changed by the future. The idea of time travel contradicts itself. Also, if people from the future could change the way the world was today and in the past, than time itself doesn't exist. The past, present, and future all occur on some plane other than time because the people who aren't in existence are changing our existence. Understand? I could probably explain a little better if need be.

My point is this, the idea of time travel proves that the future hasn't happened yet, so we don't have a set fate. The choices we make today can effect how we live tommorrow. God understands us better than we do ourselves. This is because we often lie to ourselves to hide our flaws and protect our pride. "Its ok, everyone else has done it.". And if he is there he has been watching us since we were born and can see into our mind and heart, he knows exactly how we will act in situations. Instead of controlling us he gives us options in our lives and tells us that if we follow those options he has great things in store. Ultimately, we have the choice to follow the options he gives us, or choose our own. I think God knows what we will choose when he presents the options, but think of this: If we are aware of the options when they are placed before us, we are aware of our choice, and although we may choose his, we still had the chance to choose something else.

So, we aren't forced to make the choices in life by fate, but the choices we make set up our life.
