I think I remember the guys who were supposed to be fallen angels saying something very close along those lines, about how painful it was to be on earth away from God, after having been with him. Anyway, yeah I had the same notion of hell being physical pain. Considering we don't have physical bodies when we die, as far as I know, it does seem more fitting to have an emotional pain. A pain of the soul. I've always feared the idea of going to hell alot. I'm sure everyone does. I wonder if the fear is innate, from a natural love for God, even if we don't know it.
