Date Posted: 11:49:50 09/28/04 Tue Interesting side note on your comment about the pain you dealt with with Geanie. Peoples notion of hell today is that its a place of physical pain for all eternity. That it's a place where you burn in a fire for all time. The bible says its a place of fire and several times refer to people burning in it for all eternity so its understandable why people think that. But the bible was written by Jews and Greeks. And, at the time, in those cultures they didn't have words for alot of the things written in the bible so they used symbols. In hebrew culture, fire represents judgement. The writers of the bible used fire to represent hell of a place of eternal judgement, not eternal pain in burning. This makes hell only slightly less than appealing to people who have lived with pain their whole lives. Reading on hell, I have a completely different idea of it. The bible says God loves us and we feel his love through his Holy Spirit, which guides us on earth. Since God gives us choices, he gives us the option to not love him back and not feel the pain of it. I believe everyone deep down has a natural love for God that he created us with, only we block it out by things of the world. You know that pain of loving someone and not having them? I believe that is much closer to how hell is. In hell, God is not there, and there is nothing to fill in the gap for the love we have for him, so we feel it fully. But he is not there. Imagine having that feeling for Geanie only you have absolutely nothing to take your mind of it. No worries of tommorrow because tommorrow is forever. Nothing to do today but sit and think about how much you love her and want her, but you can never have her. A scripture in the new testament says that hell is a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth. In my opinion, that fits the pain of loving someone who isn't there more than the pain of burning your finger on the stove. And, personally, I do not want to live for all eternity loving someone and feeling that pain in my heart, stronger than anything with nothing to replace it.
