"'You shouldn't take life so seriously. It isn't permanent.' Now I realize why I like that so much. I used to strive for permanence. If I do this, I want it forever. But I realized nothing is forever, and it's ok, because I've accepted that. My future is somewhat uncertain, but time reveals all. I'm losing the pointless feeling I have had, and I'm happy again, more and more each day."

Whatever happens after you die is forever. And you should take life seriously because of that. "You shouldn't take life so seriously. It isn't permanent."....that is a selfish statement. It sounds like wisdom but it isn't. It's a way for a person to feel happy about waisting their life away. It's a way for a person to justify what they do wrong. Life isn't forever, that is true. But that makes every second valuable because compared to death, life is a blink of the eye. If you don't believe in God,heaven, and hell you should at least spend your time trying to make your short life longer. You should take it seriously because once it's gone, there is no going back. And it goes quick. I am not saying playing video games is wrong and no one should do it. Im saying that its wiser to use the time you have on earth to find out the truth. To find out about what happens after death, or how to increase life if nothing happens after death. Yes, playing games was fun, I enjoyed it. I don't regret I had fun, I regret I didn't use that time for something better. Thousands of hours gone from my life and I have nothing to show for it. No trophy's for each game I beat, goal I reached, or match I win. Don't you see what I'm saying?

The things that don't last don't matter. Do things last forever? Not on this world, time, or space. In the past 27 billion years the galaxy has been in creation, we only get around 80 years to live. Shouldn't we use that time to better ourselves, or better eachother? To find out the truth and not hide from it in our conformity?

"An unexamined life is not worth living."-Patrick Morley.

You spend your days playing video games, but you have a job and go to college, so you feel your getting somewhere in life. You finish college with a bachelors and get a job in that field. You meet a beautiful women and marry her, she seems so perfect. You make more than enough money to survive and your kids do well in school. Eventually, your kids grow up and follow a similair "successful" life. You are in your 70's, and though you may not die for awhile, you feel death is near. You look back on your life and where you are now. You are retired and spending your time relaxing, doing housework simply so you have something to do while you wait for death. You think of your kids....living the same life as you. In your mind, you see them get to your age doing the same thing. This makes you wonder, what was the point? The world is no different than before, other than greater technology people are generally the same with the same goals, living the same lives. Now that only housework fills your time you get that empty feeling again as you try to contemplate some reason for living, some purpose. Looking at your life, you see no real impact in the world. After all, all things come to an end. Anything you did, people will forget. Even if people did remember it wouldn't be you they remembered, just some distorted tall tale, a myth. You can't really think of anyone who lived several thousand years ago. In several thousand years, who will remember you? Everything you have done in your life seems trivial at best. But now your in your 70's, at the end of your life. Even if you do convince yourself its not to late to search for the purpose of life, you can't convice your kids that the life they follow in isn't going to make them happy. And their children will live much the same. You wish you could go back to when you were young. Back when you were starting your life as an adult. You want to change your life, find a purpose, find out why we are here and why life is worth living. You want to give your children, and your grandchildren, and their children a reason to live. Now your near yours 20's in age and you have the opportunity to make that choice. Find a reason for living greater than the finite things of our galaxy or relive your life of regret.

I don't want you to think I'm trying to run your life. Believe me, this is the last time I will type something like this, unless you ask questions. You are my friend and I'm trying to help you realize that there is more to life than short-term pleasures. You said you believe in God. God says after death there is an infinite life. God says nothing in our world last forever. God says we can do things in this world that will last forever in the next. Shouldn't those be the things we are after....the things we try to learn about? You should understand what I'm saying, you felt the emptiness. It will come back eventually. The only thing that will fill it is knowing you are doing something that will last forever. Everything else is just a waiste of time.

Again, I'm not saying playing games is wrong, but it would be wise to turn it off sometimes and search for something important in life. The reason for life. I won't play games because they are addictive, and once I start they will take all my time again. And that is time I could have spent on things that last.
