Since the buzz surroudning baby i won't seem to dissipate why don't all of you come out and see what one of the former members is up to now!
Tomorrow night, Monday July 14th at THE MISSION, SHAFT! opens up for Elektra Records Artist Socialburn. Why is this a big deal, well that would be because Jake is our new bass player and this will be his first official show with the band.
We need everyone's support and it would be excellent for several of you to make it out and hear the new stuff and check out the revamped old stuff.

Ya know, this show means alot to me. I have been planning it for three years. One biggest reasons why I bought all that equipment was for this show. I have been planning it for two years now. I usually would think about and plan it out every other day.
However, as luck would have it we break up two months before the show. And the only way I can make it happen is by bribing the members to play with an expensive guitar. I am kinda ashamed at myself that I would even go that low. And, what is even more worse than that, you, actually would have considered it. When I read it I actually squirmed at the thought.
The bottom line is, I thought this was a group of considerate, genuine, and overall nice people who wouldnt mind helping a friend and fellow musician out for a little bit of entertainment.
So to this I say, FORGET IT, DONT BOTHER, I pull out an accoustic and do it myself.

k, i bought deftones-deftones and staind-14 shades of gray yesterday. staind is really good (more of the mellow metal mix that they did on break the cycle), but deftones is absolutely fucking incredible. the f-bomb is truly necissary there. needles and pins is my favorite track on the album.

Well I hate to burst the bubble on this little project, but I have to. This is one of the worst bands I have ever heard. There 4 song ep came across my lap a few months a go so I gave it a listen. I hope they are not shopping this as a demo because I know the industry is laughing their heads off. Here are examples of what not to do:

NO FEELING, BAD PITCH, NOT ONE MEMORABLE MELODY OR CATCH PHRASE, NO SUPPORT, JUST BAD. REAL BAD!
GUITAR: HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF TONE? WHY ARE YOU TUNED SO LOW? IS THAT THE DIST. FROM YOUR AMP? SOMEBODY NEEDS TO HOLD YOUR HAND WHEN YOU BUY ANOTHER AMP
BASS: GET REAL. I DON'T THINK THERE WAS ONE TIME WHERE YOU PLAYED WITH THE BASS DRUM. HAVE YOU HEARD ANY MUSIC IN THE LAST 20 YEARS. I BASS AND BASS DRUM ARE SUPPOSE TO PLAY TOGETHER. NOT FIGHT EACH OTHER
DRUMS: GET REAL WITH THIS ONE. REALLY, NO REALLY GREAT TEMPOS. HE'S SURE DOES HAVE A REAL GROOVE. THESE ARE JUST GOD AWEFUL DRUMS. DID HE TUNE THEM?

sorry to hear about the bottle rocket show the other night. HOWEVER, you should always plan on getting there before doors open. nobody likes a band who shows up right before they're supposed to play. Guns N Roses pulls that shit. you guys are better than that. just take it as a lesson learned. i've heard mission concerts is pretty shady to begin with, so i'm not suprised about the fiasco one bit. and about the broadzilla show, you're probably better off not playing it. for a "touring band" they drew a total of 10 people when we played with them a few months ago. and those 10 people didn't even have the decency to listen to the opening bands. you guys are still a force to be reckoned with. when's the city paper article coming out? well, here is my time to say good bye to baby i, our fans, and the city of toledo. even though i know that i am leaving for better things in my personal life and to make something of myself, the hardest thing that i am leaving behind is baby i. i will always remember jamming out at 801 hampton on my little four piece vintage (1950's) gretsch kit with only a hi-hat, crash, and ride with jake, then added ann marie, and finally kj....and as i play today, i played then for the same reason, and that is for the fun of it. i want to say thank you and i love you to our fans and my now former bandmates, and let everyone know that they will all be missed. the toledo music scene may have its problems, but the city as a whole is a great place to play at. even though a big show is only 150 people, those 150 are so incredibly supportive. its all about quality and not quantity. thank you to the fans for that. finally, the biggest shout out goes to three of some of the most important and influencial people in my life over the course of the last almost 2 years...and that would be the members of baby i. first, ann marie, the increase in your confidence has been incredible. you are a great bass player and singer, so keep showing it off. to kj...aka wanda...when it was first suggested that you audition for us i knew that you were it even before the first note rolled off of your tongue. and finally, jake, my hetero-lifemate. we have always clicked musically together, and that would probably have to do with the fact that we've known each other since we were five. keep cranking out the great new songs. now i think is time for me to quit rambling and bow out of my temporary spotlight. it was only fitting that last night i had the chance to bid farewell to the fans of toledo at the same place where we got our first break. i look forward to making my visits, but it will never be the same not stepping on stage with baby i. good luck and thank you for the opportunity to create music with you three wonderful musicians.

good performance at yer show last night..I didnt know what to expect, and was suprised to see such consistency through and through with the band and the material..if you keep REHEARSING, using less "tough tactics" and try to look more like you're having as much fun as you seem to be, I think you will have no problem working in to the ranks of the loCOOL scene..and its always great to see more involvement from the ladies in this otherwise dry scene, esspecially when they can rawk a bass like miss AnnMarie does. Word.

Hey y'all, just got back from baby i's recording session. I was fortunate enough to have them let me hang around and be a small part of their creative process. It was a long day for them, but I'd say it was time well spent, and so far so good. After the raw recording, things sounded pretty damn good, and after my dude Jeff finishes with the mixing, I'm positive it'll sound excellent. I'm sure everyone who's able to snag a copy will be pleased!
