Hi, somehow I managed to get the boot to stop at on of the error messages. Basically it said
" *** STOP: 0x0000007B (etc etc..) INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

If this is the first time you've seen this stop screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard discs or hard drive controllers... etc etc ...
Run CHKDSK /f to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer..."

so i went into the recorevry console and ran CHKDSK and it got to 75% then said "The Volume appears to have one or more unrecoverable problems" and then quit.

that's where i'm up to now, taking out everything except the video card and booting in safe mode didn't help. before the computer crashed everything was working perfectly. i had just disconnected and was playing some files in mediaplayer and adjusting the volume when the pc crashed with the stop error the first time.
