It is mentioned many times in the bible that only a remnant will understand, and will accept Jesus. Most will reject Him, like they have also in the Old Testament have always rejected the prophets and often killed them.
You can't blame God for people rejecting Him. And you accuse me of pick and choose, when I only want to read with my heart, and therefore come to conclusions that even in the Bible there are little mistakes, due to people making mistakes with translating and so on. But in the essence of the Book does not change because of these things.
