Subject: Hmm...nine eggs...nine graspers...convenient, aye?

[Okay...I'm changing the rule. I choose the names, cause they're going to be important in the future.]

As soon as the group climbs atop the grand mesa, a breathy wind of warmth washes across them, touseling hair and snatching clothes. Several of the eggs twitch and emit deep clacking sounds. Minutes pass, and the sun slips through the stark blue sky. When dusk settles, it is time.

More violently, the orbs jostle and bump. All are a mottled hue of tan and gray, and only their size gives any clue to what color lies beneath the shell. Are there any reds, with their crimson rage? Per'aps a calm, calculating blue, or a vain purple. Time tells all.

The first to come is the egg beside Kannin. It rattles and clicks, its small roundness leaping about. A shrill cry can be heard, before the hard, smooth surface erupts open. A tiny, lithe form lands upon the boy's lap. A male yellow. Curious blue eyes meet his soulmate's. Kannin! Kanni-anni-anni-in! I am Treel!

Confidence heightened by the first-hatched, one of the eggs in the far-back gyrates, its shell rent down the center by gray talons, set upon a forest green paw. Swirls of a darker green whirl along her back, and the graceful little female strides toward Kihho. Seating herself, golden eyes bright, the green chirps. I have found you...Kihho. My name is Rhaela.

At the same time as Rhaela, another egg is torn apart. He appears just like the first green, yet a bit larger. Trotting eagerly toward Rakyu, it appears he has none of his eggmate's grace, either. Even so, a gray-clawed paw is placed against the boy's knee, and the male whines. Rakyu? I'm hungry...can we get food? Oh...I think I'm called...Tarldam.

A snarl resounds from the egg nearest Pahmaru. A large orb, it breaks apart in struggling flakes before finally expelling a brown male. His scales are a lightish tan, mottled with a darker hue across his belly and damp wings. His green eyes are focused on Esayo, rage bright in them. Yet the hatchling snuggles up to Pahmaru. We should show her, Pahmaru. I'm Kurge.

Off to one side, a mid-sized egg wobbles nonchalantly. A sighing sound escapes, and it seems to stop moving, only half-showing sky-and-navy blue scales. Finally, claws resume ticking at the inside of the confining egg, and the blue male saunters toward his bondmate. Hey hey, Afael. Lookin' good! Th'name's Etyze.

Next to come, close after Etyze's hatching, is hidden beside the bulk of two other eggs. Feathers announce the coming of a purple dragon, and such are colored with white and gray. The female is large and almost stocky with a gruff air that would generally surround a fighter. Most odd. She trots toward Kohlin, her twilight scales glittering. Hullo, bond. I'm Dirkra.

Two eggs left. The larger of them shudders, and a crack ripples down the center. More of them spiderweb across the vibrating surface, as the creature within pushes to escape his prison. Suddenly it shatters, and gray-tan shards stick to the scarlet male's pelt. Blinking deep silver eyes toward Hicat, he ponders a moment, then approves the mental choice. Yes. You. You're my bondmate, aye? I've been named...Lokarv.

This is a gold dragon's clutch, for being up in the Lair of Sun. Therefore, there needs to be a Ranking dragon within it. The last egg rolls over and tosses, basking the the suspension it's bringing. An eternity seems to pass, yet its obvious who it will bond to. Finally the surface is broken, and the shimmering golden paw juts out. Then the tail, and head, and two limp wings. By now, the shards of shell are either sticking to the female's body or are littered about her. Her eyes open...yet she doesn't see. A scream shatters the peace of the nest as the gold whips her head franticly about. Each eye is round with fright, and a shade of white-blue. Even the pupils. She is blind. Through the link, the hatchling cries out to her bonded. Esaaaayo! Help me, please! Help Lheja!

Alerted by a distant cry of suffering, she alights from her perch with impossible silence and grace. Winging toward the source of the noise, her death-black form cuts through the air like imminent doom, yet none of such was to come. The black dragon's bass bellow calls out order, and her deep gray eye scans the mesa for the source of the pain. Landing with as much quiet as she had taken off, the immense female turns her steely gaze to Hicat. He seems a leader.
What is wrong here, boy?
