Hi everyone!!
Yesterday was a bad day for us Juventus fans as we had to endure them getting knocked out of the European Champion league. Even a couple of glasses of milkshake (strawberry flavour of course) couldn’t help easy the pain.
Anyway, much later than planned is a round up of “Smile Time”, “A Hole in the world” and “Shells” in Spoiler **
Demon puppets..I’m pretty sure that teddy might well be one, but that’s another matter. Aside form the welcome comic touches that this episode brought I was starting to wonder if they were planning any major changes to the groups dynamic. The reason I say this is the appearance of Nina and a possible romance between her and Angel. The other reason was Gunn and his reaction to the loss or rather fading ability as a corporate lawyer. His desire to regain this ability was ripe for exploitation and that’s exactly what happened. Another reason why I thought that Nina might become a more regular member is that the series is short on female cast members. Fred is the only regular, Harmony and Eve are recurring characters and that’s about it.
“A hole in the world” was a bit of strange episode to me and I’m still not quite sure what to make of it. It appears that being Angel’s friend increased your chances of demonic possession, first Cordelia now Fred. Again, Angel has to make the choice of saving a friend or killing thousands of people to save them. This made me think, okay thousands will die, but if Illyria succeeded how many would die then? Again going back to the change in the group dynamic – would Fred be this seasons Big Bad. But what of Gunn and Wesley? Gunn to turn evil and what’s with Wesley shooting that guy (albeit in the leg) who interrupted his research. Wes has become a little trigger happy of late, is he losing it? By the way, have the Cotswolds changed since I was there or were they really in a park in Los Angeles.
“Shells” - I felt a little sorry for Gunn, the realisation that he was at least partly to blame for what happened to Fred was tough for him to deal with but I don’t think that he did himself any favours by not telling the rest of the gang. I’m sure Wesley is losing it, first he stabs Gunn then he shoots Knox, is he getting a taste for it wonder? Did you notice that Illyira didn’t kill or seriously injure anyone (other then Fred I suppose), guess that the scriptwriters felt that it will be easier for the character to be accepted into the fold that way. Okay, so if Nina becomes a regular we would have, the main character, a souled vampire side kick, a werewolf, a reformed demon and a former associate in hospital with a stab wound. Sounds familiar, but where have I seen that before *** end of mindless babble
to all, especially anyone having a bad day.
Take care all!!!
