] Date Posted: 18:05:05 01/16/05 Sun In reply to: Young Irelander 's message, "Such a misunderstanding..." on 04:06:34 01/16/05 Sun Now, YI, before you blow another gasket, allow me to point out I'm in the same boat (albeit in the fenced off bit at the top-right of said boat). Don't worry about the Irish temper, it gets the better of all of us islanders at one time or another and, compare to a lot of Irish posts I've read in my time, was hardly an outburst. So don't worry about it but do what I do - when you feel yourself getting het up, log off, have a drink (Black Bush is my own recommendation), then come back. If you're still angry, then hell, let rip. Usually though I find I've had time to calm down enough to argue the point in a (comparatively) civilised manner and feel a lot better for doing so. It's only fair to point out that I have a dodgy internet connection that has also saved me from making a fool of myself several times (thanks, BT). As for being dreamers, I've been called a lot worse, and yes we are dreaming. Dreams become notions, which become goals, which, eventually, may become action. I don't see that there's anything wrong with it. The FCS is not around the corner by a long shot but it is nice to know that there are others out there, especially those who should hate their former colonial master, who can look forward to a future of cooperation and equality rather than back at an imperial and bloody past. As for the Irish, being among the most fervent of the anti-British former colonies, your presence is valuable and your opinions as valid as everyone else's, so why not drop the alias and join the FCS forum to help us dream up a better future for all of us, commonwealth and non-commonwealth alike. Out of interest, why are you here? It's not that I don't welcome you it's just that I'm wondering what could inspire a 'Young Irelander' to visit a pro-British Commonwealth forum? Date Posted: 16:33:54 01/17/05 Mon I'm sure you think of me when yu think of people from whome you percieved insult. Such was never my intention, I think it was a near inevitable result from discussing such topics due to the passian we both feel for our countries. We took very similar stances on things, only from the other side of the Irish sea (I hope you understand what i am grasping at), I reckon if we were both British or both Irish we would get on very well. No hard feelings I hope, against each other or our nations. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 18:50:11 01/17/05 Mon You make fair points Owain. There is alot of passion involved in discussing topics involving the past. I have no hard feelings towards you either or your country and I hope we can move on from the incidents last year. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
