] Date Posted: 20:32:53 01/07/05 Fri I think it's shocking. Barely any of your wouldbe Englishmen actually are. Perhaps you are so anglophile, because you have chips on your shoulders about your colonised countries. It's a bit like Stalin trying to be more Russian than the Russians, when in fact he was no Russian at all. No matter how hard you Welsh and Canucks and Americans and Australians try you can't be real "Brits"... you'll never be accepted by what is one of the most xenophobic and snobby nations on Earth... the one that tried world conquest like some kind of evil well funded Bond villain. Date Posted: 21:01:33 01/07/05 Fri I was born Australian and British, just as my wife was born Brazilian and Latin. There is no contradiction in that. I am as real a Brit as anyone you care to name. You choose not to see yourself as British, which I find sad, but there you are. Different points of view. Interesting that James Bond has been played by Sean Connery (born in Scotland), George Lazenby (born in Australia), Roger Moore (born in England), Timothy Dalton (born in Wales) and Pierce Brosnan (born in Ireland). There's xenophobia for you. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 20:03:59 01/09/05 Sun Isn't that odd? I don't know of a country called Cornwall. Anyone else here know of one? Of course, if you're looking to found one, then you're best off in the "Free Cornwall From the Despotic Evil English Empire Which Has Raped It Of Its Resources Because The Cornish Republic Shall Be Perfect" forum. Just ask the men in white coats over there. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 20:08:06 01/09/05 Sun I seem to recall, during the previous Last Night of the Proms, several Cornish flags waving amongst the British ones during a rendition of "Rule, Britannia!" Odd thing to be at if the Cornish Seperatists hate Britain eh? [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 15:48:02 01/09/05 Sun Curnoack you are only exposing your ignorance of the law of the English speaking people. I am certainly not a traitor to the Republic. The U.S. Constitution is clear on the matter “Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” None of the FCS countries are enemies of the United States. They are in fact allies of long standing. That is what gives the FCS-Anglosphere idea much of its appeal. Another source of the appeal is our common legal tradition which includes the law of treason. The U.S. law of treason is a restatement of the British one promulgated by one of the king Edwards. Steph [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 20:22:10 01/09/05 Sun 'No matter how hard you **Welsh** and Canucks and Americans and Australians try you can't be real "Brits"... you'll never be accepted by what is one of the most xenophobic and snobby nations on Earth... the one that tried world conquest like some kind of evil well funded Bond villain.' ROFL! Do you have less brain power than I previously suspected or was that a deliberate attack upon the Welsh, who right now are outraged that their **BRITISH** regiments are being reformed? Hello? **Wales** + Scotland + England + Northern Ireland = Britian. And what's more, I have news for you: It was primary Scottish and Welsh people who VOLUNTEERED to join the army to fight for THEIR soverign and THEIR nation (which is Britain and the UNITED Kingdom). England is not a nation. Moreover, Australia used to be a proud part of the nation you so criticisingly refer to. Furthermore, before you spill more twaddle about them being conscripted into the British Forces, you may wish to know that Britian was against conscription until midway through the First World War. Are you so blinded by ignorance and hatred that you cannot accept simple facts? Are you so foolish that it has not occured to you that this society would gladly give Cornwall more autonomy than many others? If you wish to complain about Cornwall's tragic predicament, all of course the fault of England and the British Crown, then please do tie yourself to the Palace gates and scream abuse. However, if you actually wish something to be done, then you may want to act pragmatically in putting aside your childish notions of English Evil and contribute usefully to this society. Date Posted: 20:43:03 01/09/05 Sun It seems that the FCS has been redefined as the Free Cornwall Society within the confines of this forum. What this society actually stands for is increased strength through union and the recognition of common bonds. So Curnoack, I would ask you to take your parochial obsession with Cornwall elsewhere, to a forum whose members are perhaps more interested. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 21:37:44 01/09/05 Sun Aww, the little Cornish boy got a nappy rash? For your information, Corny, the FCS, as best I understand it, has little to do with being English and a lot to do with being British. Not British in the 'Where were you born?' way, either. Allow me to elucidate: British, as according to the OED: "1. of or relating to Great Britain or the United Kingdom, or to its people or language; 2. of the British Commonwealth" or perhaps, shall we take Briton? "2.a native or inhabitant of Great Britain or (formerly) of the British Empire" You are, I believe, a native or inhabitant of Great Britain. Practically all the posters here are from nations '(formerly) of the British Empire'. This has nothing to do with being English, except in speech, and everything with being British - in body, mind and soul. If you're really that hung up on it why not use the link at the top of the page and setup your own forum - you'll find more people there willing to listen to your hate-fuelled drivel. You should fit in nicely with the "Free Ireland from the evil, despotic British Empire" or "Liberate bonnie Scotland from the mad English" forums that I just know are out there somewhere. Hell you might even make a friend and thus not have to spend your time trying desparately to get your opinion aired in a forum where no-one wants to know. BTW, your country, like it or not, is England or the UK. Do you honestly believe that few hundred square miles of moor and cliff could ever be anything other than an appendage. If you do I suggest you seek medical help at once. Anyone care to estimate the GDP for an independent Cornwall (which, let's face it, would have to be calculated in Euros)? Date Posted: 16:07:19 01/10/05 Mon This is a big joke played by some sad-ass Londonner isn't it? Seriously now, you can expect us to believe that you are comparing the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern Ireland with Nazi Germany? A bit more subtle next time and you'll fool someone else, I'm sure. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
