] Date Posted: 20:46:06 01/05/05 Wed Even though I am Canadian, both of my parents were born in the UK in the 1920's. Can I therefore claim British citizenship in addition to my Canadian citizenship? Can anyone enlighten me on this? If I am eligible, I will take advantage of it and get British citizenship as well. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 21:34:53 01/05/05 Wed Recently a Rhodesian whose parents are British applied to become a British citizen and had lived in Britain for most of his life, but he was turned down because he hadn't spent enough time in the UK for the last three years. The reason: He had spent many months in Iraq fighting for the British Army. :( [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 21:55:30 01/05/05 Wed I'm not sure Jim. Given that both your parents are British, coupled with the fact that they seem to be giving away British passports in cereal boxes these days, I would have thought it would not be a problem. However, I think you will probably have to spend at least a few years here first. Try the Home Office website http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
