] Date Posted: 18:46:49 11/20/04 Sat I would like to make two comments about Darwin... Firstly, Evolution was NOT his idea, and stole from various others, merely publishing his idea first, but not inventing it. Secondly, it runs completely contrary to God's law and word. As Christian nations, we should be standing up to the infection of secularisation. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 19:26:40 11/20/04 Sat Evolution was not Darwin's idea, and even natural selection may have occured to other people before him, but it is to him that we owe our understanding of our place in the world. He had the courage to put good science before religious prejudice. God's law does not concern me. God is, after all, a character in a book, much like King Lear or Ulysses. I'm very glad Australia is not a christian country: the very idea disturbs me. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 12:57:22 11/21/04 Sun And many people were penalised or even arrested for suggesting that animals could change themselves, as well as relying on God to fit them for their environment...many of these people were around more than a century before Darwin. But Darwin was the first to say, "sod this for a game of soldiers" and go out and actually collect enough evidence, and write it down in such logical terms, that no-one could contradict the theory of evolution any more. And whether or not he was the greatest ever Commonwealth citizen, he is certainly the most famous and important person to come from Shropshire! Unless you count Robert Clive, I suppose...
