Aden is one of those rare bits of British history that has been forgotten by pretty much everyone. An embarrassment for pretty much anyone who cares to analyse it, of whatever political persuasion, it's just been brushed under the carpet, and consequently it appears that the lessons that could have been learned from it have not been. Date Posted: 15:11:49 11/25/04 Thu Is this the incident in which the SAS took over Aden without anyone actually noticing, and then left? If so, I think that a book was recently published about it, which might be interesting. The SAS, of course, is never likely to be so effective a force again, since it will be hardest hit by the exodus of all Commonwealth citizens from its ranks under the new laws, having an inordinately large Dominions contigent.
