It was seriously saying that we should become a republic in order to better position ourselves as a brand on the global market. Bugger that! If I'm going to be reduced to the status of a brand name, I'd rather it be that of the parent corporation that brought the world Chaucer, Shakespeare and Milton, not the South Pacific branch that was farmed off to the local shareholders.
