Hi Michael - I have been using Bell Sympatico High Speed Edition for around 15 months - I can't speak for Aurora Cable Xtreme, as it was only offered to our house in the last 2 months.... a little late....
During the time I have been using High Speed Edition (HSE) I have found it to perform consistently fast and always reliable.
I have to administer this site which, in its old format, was very time consuming, having to transfer large amounts of data to and from the web on a regular basis, at peak web times. Never had a problem or a slow down in service.
HSE have superb technical support 24/7. My only grouch is trying to talk to someone in Billing which, up until November last year (the last time I tried) was abysmal. So, as long as you don't have billing issues, I'd recommend HSE.
Now you just need to speak to someone who uses Xtreme. For example, my brother-in-law swears by Xtreme and its support services.
But, all that said, you will need to try both. Remember, HSE gives you 1mg data bandwidth, whereas a cable modem bandwidth is shared with whoever else is using that link. If you're lucky, there'll be few users on your link, which will make the line v.fast. If you're unlucky, you could end up sharing your link with many others, reducing the speed considerably.
You may also want to talk to people in Aurora who have been lucky enough to have had access to Xtreme for a number of months, and who up and download large amounts of data, rather than new users, who may not be aware of the speed differences.
As an example, I downloaded 10.2 megabytes of data yesterday, in less than 4 minutes. How does Xtreme stand up to that?
Good luck in your decision.
