U.S. House Of Representatives / Bachmann says $2 gas is achievable

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann thinks you should be paying $2 a gallon for gasoline again.

Standing outside a Woodbury gas station Monday morning, Bachmann, R-Minn., said Congress could make that happen � if it passes a half-dozen bills aimed at reducing gas prices and opening up the nation's known petroleum and natural gas reserves.

"The question is one of supply and demand, and we want to increase the supply,'' Bachmann said.

The bills already have been introduced but haven't gotten very far yet. Bachmann said that with consumers paying $4 or more a gallon, the time has come for Congress to act.

Moving quickly to open up reserves would send a signal to markets that the United States is serious about increasing supplies, prompting prices to start going down, according to Bachmann. In four years, when newly available supplies hit the market, she said prices would decline further and again could approach $2 a gallon
