Subject: Give Me The City

I'm tired of the mountains with their hills,
The creeks running through them to bring celestial thrills,
The forest, its awesome fortitude of cool shade
With many colors; the truest God ever made.
Ten years in Alaska has cured my wanderlust ills;
Why I'll never again trek backpack into those hills.

Let me walk my city streets with the smog of all its cars
And in the evenings, I'll release my tensions in all the local bars.
The buildings, the crowds, me stopping at every corner to rest
This is the easy life, no heavy breathing or muscles to test.
The stores, the restaurants, and the curio shops all in neat rows
Who needs the forest and those hiking boots that always hurt my toes.
Yep, you'll never get me back into those mountains, I swear
All that nature is not natural for a man like me, I declare.

Excuse me, while I take a moment to answer the phone
All right! It's Patty! How did she know that I was alone?
Patty, I can't believe the words you speak into my ears;
Why sure I'd love to go camping, haven't been in years.
