There is no soapbox or righteous stand,
nor is there speech or methodical plan
to comfort to a father
for the loss of son or daughter

The heart is broken and the spirit is cast.
The emptiness that will always last
in the experience of a mother
for the loss of sister or brother

Is there war or pestilence,
or is there cause or effect,
however compiled,
that can explain the loss of a child?

There is no compensation or restitution
nor is there government or institution
to comfort a father
for the loss of son or daughter

The will dismissed and the mind depleted
The sorrowful feeling of being defeated
in the experience of a mother
for the loss of sister or brother

Is there prose or revelation
Or mathematical or insured equation
however compiled,
that can explain the loss of a child?

No! There is only loss!
