The decision was made well before this years team was ever selected - during the summer vacation, when XS needed to know if the team members (inc. the captain) on XS were available for the worlds. There has been some after-the-fact discussion, but the plane tickets were booked well before trials and remain booked now, so it's all a bit academic - and a team match without a team captain is a bit wierd, even for Cambridge. As a point of information, the current team has never debated Warwick attendance in a full team meeting - although I understand that the captain has been discussing the decision with individuals.
The captains line is that the decision was discussed with all the coaches, and was made on the basis of giving the team more time to prepare for the uni circuit before facing the competition. Therefore, the cambridge team are invited (optionally) to attend an open circuit comp a week before Warwick, rather than attending the Warwick comp. As a team, we have to respect the decision of the captain not to attend and enter the team match, so all we can do is enter the opens, unless a team invites us to merge. Hence, we need a team to merge with. Any offers?
