I guess we never really moved on

Everything was feeling a little bit surreal - it was late enough that it was almost starting to get light out again, he'd had a few drinks, and it had been a pretty intense night. He let himself into the apartment that he shared with his girlfriend and their two little ones as quietly as possible and silently worked off his shoes and his hoodie to leave by the door. He wanted to just flip on the television and stretch out on the couch and go to sleep - mentally and physically very tired - but he was almost positive that he reeked of another woman and if Cassie were to be anywhere near him she would know immediately. So, despite the noise risk that it posed, he stripped off his clothes on his way to the bathroom to take a hot shower - closing the door part way and turning just one low light on. He didn't want to look at himself in the mirror - afraid of the marks that might be there that they had tried so hard to avoid. Once the water was on and steam was filling the dimly lit bathroom, he stepped into the shower to rinse away the remnants of Malika that lingered...
