I would say that for me, the primary reason is that its made by ME. I love both their other shows, and from what i hear this sounds pretty good too. Although I would be looking more for them to get into an arc because I prefer that style. But the idea of western in space, with the idea that in many ways things have declined, interested me quite a bit. Its really not just genre, but adding something new to it I think.
Not sure why Sky havent picked it up, but I think possibly that they will do at some point. I was reading in a paper the other day about which channels would go for which new American shows, and they said it would be likely thet Firefly eventually makes its way over to Sky. Not least because they are both to do with Fox..
