Subject: Howell's Foot

I don't know if any of you heard, but Jim Howell broke his foot during practice last Friday and will miss the rest of the season. Needless to say, this is a devastating blow for both Howell and the Broncos. Jim is the team leader, the inspirational hustle guy who always gave it his all. His improvement from freshman year (when he was barely recruited by any D1 program and signed with SCU only when another recruit pulled out of his commitment) was phenomenal. It's a shame that his career had to end in such a fashion.

1) THANK YOU SCUBRONC for "lurking" and finally posting ...
I for one am glad to know there are "others" out there ....

2) thanks for the word on Howell ... I appreciate hearing about him ... my heart dropped when I saw him with the crutches ... In my mind he is the heart and soul of this team and having had a chance to meet him last year was glad he was as fine a young man as I had hoped .... as fine an example of the student-athlete Bronco as you could hope for ....

I know the coaches (or at least a couple of them) seemed to think that at times Jim had higher expectations for the team than they may have ... but as you noted ... he exceeded many expectations ... and why not the Broncos ....

I have to think that a lot of the "shut-down" of the Bigs from BYU, Miss St., Pepperdine was due to Jim's heart and his hustle ... I've enjoyed watching him "grow" and make those rebounds that you'd think he wouldn't ...

my best to him, his family, and his loved ones ... and much good fortune in the future ... in my opinion he deserves it ... he's earned it ...
