A 47-point first half propelled the Hopkins High School boys basketball team to an 86-58 win over St. Louis Park on Friday at the Hopkins High Lindbergh Center.

Although his team was soundly beaten, Park head coach Larry Ronglien saw some positive signs.

“We won a lot of loose balls for one thing,” Ronglien said. “And we didn’t give in. We don’t lose the whole season when we lose one game.

“Hopkins played very well. I was impressed with their level of effort.”

Seniors Jadee Jones and Mitch Henke led the Royals with 21 points apiece.

“We’ve watched Mitch Henke play for years,” Ronglien said. “He’s one of the best in the state, and not just talent-wise. Mitch does all the right things in terms of sportsmanship and team play.”

and this may be old news ... but the comments are promissing ...
