Subject: Exaltation and Angley info!

After a truly dissapointing EWU loss, the Broncos played perhaps their best game of the year, out rebounding , outcoaching and out hustling the Dons 64-53. Niesen scores his first double-double (10-10). Perkins and Bailey shine. SCU overcomes blowing a 14 point first half lead and plays a strong and consistent second half. It's one game, but, it gives one hope that this team still might be okay and have a shot for a day or two off in early March.

Also Brody Angley seems to beback to 100%. He's averaging 18.9 ppg 7.7 assists and about 8 boards a game, desptie a very slow start due to the hamstring injury. It's tough to tell a lot about some one you've never seen, but based on descriptions, I' think he'll get some PT next year.9 But I agree w/ the esteemed Marlon, he won't start with KB and Doron around). Here's a link that has two Angley articles... you'll need to scroll down a bit.

Thanks JCard for the Angley update ... and link ... it does sound impressive ... and I agree it's tough for a true freshman to start .... but if he is as good as he sounds I will bet he gets some playing time at PG to let Bailey and Perkins rest or play some FAST ball

DD has been playing a lot of 3 guard offense this year and having some luck ... with Howell and JR gone next year we will probably still need to be quick ...

and my source of the Coaches' "plans" was the breakfast Coaches' talk earlier this week ... DD said he would like to play (note: not start) Brody some to move Kyle to SG at times ...

yes ... actually a little bit ...

may the biggest thing was how smart he is (mentioned a 1500(+??) SAT ) ... yet I remember that perhaps the greatest Bronco (and WCC) Scholar-Athlete (three time academic all-american ... and also all-american his senior year) led the Broncos to perhaps their best 3 year period in Basketball ...

Dennis Awtrey... those were the days. A rennaissance like that would be nice. Maybe if Denison bulks up about 30-40 lbs and Henke becomes both Ogdens. Seriously tho', if the core stays healthy and Denison becomes the player that he appears to have the potential to be, next season could be a really good one. This season still might be okay. Next two games will be telling.

[> The Broncs Put One Together .... BY 11 !!! -- Bronco66, 23:20:15 01/09/04 Fri

Listened to the game on Internet ...

got worried in the later part of the 1st half ... wondering if the Broncos were up to their old 50% on/off style ... thank G** they weren't

apparently there was a little "encouragement" in the team meeting this week ... (per the post game interviews) but best said .. it was left in the Locker Room ... Travis is a Find Young Man ... and comes across quite well on mike ...

Coach Seandel who usually gets the post-game honors was all aglow ... a HUGE difference from the EWU "effort" which he called the WORSE showing by a team in his 12 years at SCU ...

Next week is a big test of how the middle of the WCC might shake out ... being at home for Pepperdine and LMU should help the team get some momentum going ... if they "hold serve" and are 3-0 for St.Mary's then USF again ... that would be very intersting going into Portland/Gonzaga at home ...
