Jeez I like Mitch Henke - he's gonna be a tough player for us as he matures, but four misses in a row in the OT?

You cost us the game, son.

Oh, we win and lose as a team, yada yada yada. And a little defense team-wide would have helped a lot. But man that was tough. Live and learn, I guess.

For you who attended, you had to be pissed when you heard the real result from Moraga....

So OK, what does this game matter? Not much, as I said before. Sure, a win would have made things a lot easier for us as we try to secure 3rd place, and make 2nd place doable, gotten us on a hopeful roll, blah blah blah. But you'd have to be blind to our results this year, or the most optomistic fan on earth, to think this team is gonna get on any great roll. They are just too inconsistent, or more importantly, the talent level is just too much at a par with every other team in the league, such that any game is winnable, any game is loseable. It's a lot to expect for this team to win a bunch in a row.

So the deal now is we have to hold off one of USD or USF, to secure 4th, because that is important, we do want the first round bye.

As it stands we are still looking pretty good for that. You have to figure USF loses at Gonzaga, and USD is 50/50 at best at Portland. Give us those both as L's for the bad guys and we are very safe.

But we damn well better beat LMU tomorrow.

Despite the big free throw misses last night, one thing has been seriously lacking that was a constant of past Dick Davey teams...Defense. While the games are entertaining, this year's Broncos have allowed quite a few opponents to light up the scoreboard. In previous posts, we have complained about offense. But that seems to be the least of our problems. We too can light up a scoreboard when you have three players that average over 15 points per game. But when you're on the losing end of quite a few high scoring affairs, you start to wonder what happened to those hard-nosed defense clubs that DD used to throw out on the court. There goes another two cents I've thrown in. Disgruntled out!

Shooting 3 for 11 from the field in OT and allowing the Waves to shoot nearly 50% for the game had at least as much to do with the loss as Henke's misses. I do agree that he'll be a big contributor in the future, especially if he (like Denison) can get stronger. The Loyola game looms very large now. Senior Day- bye likely on the line- 2 tough road games ahead. They need to suck it up(and hope the LMU loss impacted the Lions more than the Pepp loss damaged the Bronco psyches).

Hey Tom,
Lighten up....the kids a freshman and your blaming him for "costing us the game." Doesn't seem like a very Broncoesque thing to do.

Relax and don't be so harsh.

Broncoesque our number 21 did blow the game, I'm sorry to break it to you. And do not try to pull the "give the freshman a break line" He is playing on a Varsity Division 1 basketball team. Anyone at this level must learn to be criticized.

[> "BEST" Free Throw Shooting Team in the League -- Bronco66, 07:09:44 02/19/05 Sat

That caught my attention .... according to D-LEW the Broncos ARE the Best Shooting FT team in Conference play ...

that being said noone ... even Rye-vee-oh the younger from the Puppies of Pulman-North makes 'em allllll ....

yah a VERY tough loss ... and ANY missed shot in Regulation "cost us the game" ... so EVERY shot is IMPORTANT

just think ... LAST YEAR one shot cost us Villanova, Miss. St., BYU, ???? ..... THIS YEAR one shot cost us GONE-ga-ga, the Cable Car, USF, ??? ...

ONE SHOT ANYWHERE in the GAME ... can make a difference ... what we allll (I presume) want is consistancy (which is another way of saying certainty) .... certainty that the Broncos are going to make their shots .... at least on a consistant basis ...

WELL .... IT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAMES !!!!!

and why I go .... and if I can't go I listen (and if possible watch) ... and why I will be at Leavey this afternoon ... and for the WCC tourney ....

yes 2nd place is a nice goal ... and ???? may still be obtainable ...

but the REAL GOAL should be WINNING the LAST GAME at LEAVEY this year (and that ain't this afternoon) ... a "W" in that LAST game means that a lot of folks will be "dancing" and not just in the Streets ...

Mr. Henke ... take heart ... get the blown free throws out of your game (and that goes for all BRONCOS) ... BECAUSE its time to step up in all manners of the sport ...

Go BRONCOS !
