Subject: Towing with a bronco II

I have been researching about towing with a bronco II. People seem to recomend against it because of the weak engine and trans. I've rebuilt the factory 2.9 and bored it .30 over, as well as tweeked the ignition and intake among other things. The tranny has also been rebuilt with heavier than factory clutch packs and a heavy duty torque converter was installed. It seems to have no trouble getting out of its own way. It's an 88 XLT. Most of the postings I saw were in reference to the 89 eddie bower edition. Maybe that one was a dud? I don't know. I was confused as to if there were any other adverse effects of towing (suspension wise.) I don't plan to tow a boat or anything, just a small enlosed trailer for band equipment. (no more than 2000 lbs.) Will that be too much for it to handle (even though the manual says it is rated to 3500 lbs?) I love my little work horse (I've even pulled large tree stumps with it) so hopefully someone out there can clear some of this up for me and I can get towing! Thanks!
