Subject: Pinging engine

Hi guys,

I have a 1986 full size bronco,
302 with fuel injection and an automatic tranny with overdrive.

I just had the engine rebuilt less than 3000 miles ago.
it runs beautifully...except, it likes to ping on any kind of a load, hill or grade.
i have tried all types of fuels, no help.

the car has all new exhaust system including mufflers and catalytics.

i suspect that the timing is set just a little too advanced.
it's been awhile since i worked on an engine, do I need one of those special open end bent wrenches to get at the bolt on the distributor to loosen it up so I can adjust the timing?

If you have any other ideas what might be causing the pinging, please let me know..

thanks,
kevin rea
