It’s hard to believe that the teacher who actually has a dancers best interest in mind is selfish. You do realize that there’s quite a bit more involved in moving to open championship than just two prelim firsts. The rule is a guideline, but just that. Dancers, progress at different rates and even if they’re dancing is there — their maturity might not be … Have you watched a competition lately, particularly at the world qualifying levels? The difference between an open championship competition and a prelim competition is the difference between a prizewinner competition, and advanced beginner competition. As a mom whose been in this world for more than a decade. I will tell you — I will take the teacher who thinks about the dancer first anytime. The teacher just wants a paycheck because they move someone into open and then have more practices a week and therefore pay more money.
