Author: "The Sentinel" Gabriel Blade
Subject: A Meetin with the Manager

(Scene opens with a shot of the lobby of some large business facility, probably a skyscraper. Through the large double glass doors "the Sentinel" Gabriel Blade walks in wearing blue jeans, sneakers, a black T-shirt with a steel colored Superman symbol, and his worn leather jacket. He crosses the stylish marble floor and approaches the large semicircular desk, walking over to the security guard wearing black pants, a white shirt, small badge, radio, and nightstick.)

Security Guard- May I help you, sir?

Gabe- Yeah, Gabe Blade looking for Kevin O'Reilly?

Security Guard- He's expecting you sir, 38th floor, the first conference room on your right. Elevators are just to your left.

Gabe- Thanks.

(Gabe walks off to his left, going out of view. The shot shifts to the inside of the elevator as it slowly climbs upward, bad music playing and a bell dinging for every floor. Blade is alone in the elevator, tapping his feet somewhat impatiently as he rides, then looking at his watch. The scene then cuts to the 38th floor as the elevator door slides open and Blade walks out. Walking to the first set of double doors on his right, Gabe knocks three times. A moment later a voice from within is heard saying "Come in" and Gabe opens the door, walking into the conference room. The room is large with wall to wall windows on the far side letting in a brilliant cityscape view. In the center of the room is a large oval shaped table, hardwood and polished to a shine. About 20 or 25 chairs surround the table with the largest being at the end of the table closest to Blade. At the side of this chair is an intercom panel and phone. Sitting on the edge of the table and talking on the phone, dressed exquisitely as always, is Kevin O'Reilly.)

O'Reilly- (into the phone) Yeah, I think that's definitely the way to go. (to Gabe) Be with you in just a minute. (back into the phone) Absolutely, take a look at the projections. Trust me on this one, I know what I'm talking about... Yes, as soon as possible, today if you can. All right, get back to me when you're done. Thanks, bye.

(O'Reilly hangs up the phone.)

O'Reilly- Well, if it isn't my favorite client... (looking down at his Rolex watch) and right on time for our appointment, what a pleasant surprise!

Gabe- (looking around) Is this place yours?

O'Reilly- Oh, I have business ventures and associates all over. While we're in Canada I'm taking care of some things here. I've got a conference a little later, but the room is ours until then.

Gabe- Ok, so what's up?

O'Reilly- Strategy session, my good man, always stay on the ball. You never know when the right strategy might save your title, or your career, or your life. But first, I must congratulate you. The promo you cut at that indy event was masterful.

Gabe- (looking down) Oh, well, I wish I hadn't had to do that, I don't like running my mouth like that. But Lenoir just gets me so mad, I couldn't let it slide.

O'Reilly- No, don't apologize for it, that was good stuff. You should be happy with it. Try and think about doing that sort of thing more often, it's golden.

Gabe- (not sounding convinced) Anyway, why don't we get down to business.

O'Reilly- Great idea. I was wondering if you'd put in any thought on how you want to approach the elimination match on Blackened?

Gabe- Well it seems pretty straight forward to me. I'm just going to go out there and wrestle.

O'Reilly- Hmm, yes, well, I had imagined as much, but I was hoping for something a little bit more specific.

Gabe- What, you want my master plan to counter the devastating hardcore style of Scott Lenoir?

O'Reilly- No, no, you've got Lenoir's number. You're completely right about him, and so is Lee Todd, as unlikely as that is. He's really quite pathetic, a hired thug, no match for a wrestler of your caliber. He's not fit to step into the same ring as you. And he might not, for that matter.

Gabe- (slightly confused but curious) Wait, what are you talking about?

O'Reilly- (dismissively) Oh, nothing of consequence. Anyway, the point of the matter is that Lenoir is not a serious issue. I have no doubt in your ability to handle him expertly.

Gabe- Ok, then who? Hellfire? He's been around for quite some time, I'm familiar with his style, and I've studied all his tapes. I think I know how to take him on.

O'Reilly- Yes, I'm sure you do, and I'm sure you know exactly how to fight it out with Sin. After your recent experiences with the big man, you know the man and how he fights far better than I could tell you. I trust your instincts in the ring to guide you should you come toe to toe with him. But that leaves one key member of the opposition, Eric Manson.

Gabe- (quickly and angrily) Manson's going to pay for what he did to Mike.

O'Reilly- As well he should, but I think we need to discuss how exactly we're going to make sure that happens. You don't have any real experience with Manson, and the man's been quite successful at reinventing himself on more than one occasion. Add to that his returning fresh from a long absence from the ring, and you don't know what to expect. He's a whole new man with a whole new attitude, and potentially a whole new style in the ring. Manson could be dangerous. You need a plan to handle him.

Gabe- I trust you've got something in mind, oh great and powerful Oz.

O'Reilly- All sarcasm aside, I do indeed. The answer lies in the very reason why Manson is such an enigma, the very source of his absence, his neck injury. Whatever his game plan is, you target his neck, and Manson is yours.

Gabe- (seriously) That's not right, O'Reilly. It's not fair to take advantage of a tragic injury. And need I remind you that his career was almost ended, and it could end for real if he suffers another neck injury.

O'Reilly- (somewhat snappishly and very forcefully, stressing each point) Yes, I am perfectly aware of that. And I am also aware that Manson is a viscous madman who would not hesitate to end your career to get a victory over you. And I am also aware that Manson has been driven over the edge and is willing to do anything to get the OWF title from around your waist, even if it means crippling you. And I am also aware that Manson is the psychotic mastermind behind all of the evil that Sin has wrought here in the UWS, and I am also aware that Manson is man who took your partner out of the UWS again, and that very nearly broke his neck and ended his career with his unprovoked attack at Fool's Gold. Make no mistake about it, Eric Manson is an evil, evil man, a man who has wrong you and will wrong you again, a man who deserves everything he gets. And he is also a man that will seize any opportunity to end you in whatever way you can. He is your enemy, he is your foe, and he does not deserve your mercy. This is serious business here, Gabe, this is kill or be killed. It's either you or it's Manson. You've got to decide which is worse, potentially ending his career, or potentially ending your own. And when you make your decision, don't forget about Michael Burke, and don't forget about people like that poor girl whose life will never be the same thanks to the likes of Sin and Eric Manson.

Gabe- (seething, though it's not clear whether the anger is directed at Manson or O'Reilly) Anything else, oh captain, my captain?

O'Reilly- Yes, actually. There's the little matter of the unique aspect of this match. Namely, the fact that Lee Todd's LWA title will be on the line. Have you thought about the complications that might pose?

Gabe- Not really, I don't think it will be a problem. Despite what people like Lenoir may say, no one's going to turn on Lee in an attempt to get a hold of the title. Curtis Slamm is still difficult to read, but I doubt he'll pull anything funny, it wouldn't be worth risking Lee's wrath, or Craig Lassiter's for that matter. Craig's just about Slamm's only friend right about now, and with how hard Craig worked to get Lee Todd and the LWA championship over to the OWF, it would be fool hardy to endanger that now. And as for Tumbler, as unique as his relationship to Lee may be, and as much as the two have bickered over the hardcore title or something equally ridiculous, Tumbler would never truly betray his brother. And Lee's not about to let that title go, so I don't think we really have to consider the possibility of one of the Acts of God taking it from him.

O'Reilly- Perhaps you are too quick to dismiss possible events. Regardless of whether Slamm or Tumbler has a hand in it, have you thought of what would happen if Lee did get eliminated by one of the opposition?... And have you thought about what a benefit to your career it could be to perhaps increase the likelihood of that happening?

Gabe- (shocked) O'Reilly, what are you suggesting? I'm not going to screw Lee out of the LWA title! He's already been screwed out of tag team gold, I'm not going to wrongly take another title from him. I want the LWA title, O'Reilly, and someday I plan to have it, but I'll win it straight up in the ring in a one on one title match.

O'Reilly- Hmm, yes, I rather expected you'd react like that. Very well, if that's the way you feel, that's the way you feel. However, I anticipated this reaction, and I do believe there's another game plan that could work out in our favor you might be interested in...

(O'Reilly slides off the desk and pulls out the chair to the right of the head chair, the motions to it.)

O'Reilly- Please, have a seat...

(Gabe gets into the offered chair as O'Reilly slides into the head seat himself.)

O'Reilly- Now, what I'm thinking is...

(Fade To Black.)
