About the stages I am more open to discussion about them, but originally my thinking was that these are obviously the most simple and therefore "fair" stages.
Basically there are two types of "unfairness" that can be cause by a stage. The first is on levels such as Corneria or Jungle Japes, where instant deaths can occur at random times. Also on Corneria you have to deal with the random incoming ships as well. Now of course both sides have the same possible disadvantages in these stages, but I wouldn't want to win because I "got lucky" and the fish came out of nowhere and ate my opponent. And especially wouldn't want to lose that way either.
The second type is the kind that might exist in Kongo Jungle or Great Bay, where your death can depend on the time. You just have "get lucky" and the barrel will save you or sometimes the turtle will be up and other times he will be down.
So as you see some of this can kind of get ridiculous and hazy which is why I originally said just to have those levels which are relatively fair. Other than the wind in Kirby or the random up and down platforms in fountain etc... but that is even more ridiculous.
But I agree that it would be nice to have the option of more counter levels than just those. Which can still be chosen to somewhat counterbalance some characters, but of course not as much as opening up more levels.
The first type of unfair stages I would be pretty opposed to putting in, even though I do love Corneria as stage, just wouldn't want to have the randomness in a tournament. The second type has a decent point, but pending how people feel I could be willing to stick those in along with the most of the rest, with a couple banned here and there.
So what is everyone else’s opinion on this?
