A darker blue or green goes well with burgundy. Though you have to watch it with green and burgundy or you'll end up looking too "christmas".

Black and brown are always great base colors.

Re: Boning for corsets - a friend of mine that makes corsets/bodicces, etc. as his hobby says that hacksaw blades (wrapped in tape, to avoid pokiness) work quite well for boning should you not be able to get/afford the steel spring boning. I have one with it in, am quite *ahem* endowed, and it does work well on holding up it's end of the deal. :)

Beyond that, I cant offer any more suggestions. :)
