YES, it did. I read DK2 last night, so I won't put forth any spoilers here for you, Drew. I was electrified by the story until the ending, where I really thought it was disappointing since it devolved into territory he covered with the first series.
And Miller should've paid Klaus Janson to do the art for him ... or John Romita Jr., or someone else. About a third of it was inspired, groovy stuff. The rest looked EXTREMELY rushed, but most importantly did NOT tell the story well. Miller also decided not to draw but maybe two backgrounds the entire issue. Them's my two cents' worth.
I still look forward to issue #2, so I guess I overall enjoyed the book. I guess my hopes were really high up and felt it didn't live up to its marketing. My favorite thing about #1 was his treatment of The Atom (I've never read the Atom before, and it was obvious Miller really enjoyed writing him). The Atom and Catgirl are great stuff. Wonder Woman is also hot. The colors by Lynn Varley are extremely cool and WEIRD, and REALLY make up for Miller's rush on the art. You can get it for 35% off at www.comicsnow.com (my comics store ... everything's 35% off ... pretty unbelievable).
In other comics news, EIGHTBALL #22 IS OUT. I can't wait to read it. I'm putting it off to savor it. It's apparently just a whole bunch of one and two-page stories, twenty-seven in all. Dan Clowes is awesome.
Hey, how'd the cover jam work out, by the way? Sorry I got mine in so late (I know you've never heard that from me before). My wife put my copy of APA-5 in a mystery place while we were cleaning, and I couldn't find it until New Year's Eve. I drew mine on the kitchen counter, ran upstairs to ink it, and dropped it at the P.O. on the way to a little get-together with friends. I hope you had a good bit of participation from the other Fivers.
