Subject: Re: 29th & Blackburn

Going along with what Bill VanBibber started. On the corner across from Whitt`s Grocery was and later a newer Standard Station was the location of some of the greatest softball games that took place in the Tri-State area, not to mention some of the best marble players in the nation. Also on the same site was where the dirt came from to fill in Deadman`s Curve. Than the Stadium Drive Inn was built by Frank Gallaher and his brother-in-law, who built the Grocery Store that is located there now. Bill, there was a big old apartment building that never had any paint between the fire station and Stallards. I remember that the guy that owned it had one of those bathtub Nash`s. There is another thing that I don`t think should be left out and that was the icon of South Ashland, and that was John Parson`s. There should be a statue of him on the corner with a big cigar in his hand. There is a thousand stories on that corner.
