I don't suppose there was any place in the world better to grow up in than the late 40's & most of the 50's. Those adults around that corner watched out for us like we were there own boys. Dick can appreciate this better than I since he lived right on the corner. If we mis-behaved (which was rare!!) our parents knew about it almost immediately. Dick, I remember that old house now. I sure do agree about John Parsons. Another character there was Garret Wade. All you had to do to get him going was mention Fred Huttons name.
The Firemen used to let us come upstairs and watch the fights on an old B&W TV. It was a thrill just to get upstairs and a bigger thrill to watch the fights with them.
Another good one to watch fights with was your Dad, Dick.
If you remember, we would watch him sometimes instead of the fight! Boy, he was a real peach. I sure do miss him and so many more that were around as we grew up. I have the picture you sent me of you, Bub Strother and me, hanging on my office wall. Have had some conversation about it. Those to me were truly the good days, not that other days have been bad, but those times were special
