Subject: Snow and ice

So now that the great winter storm of 2003 is over, I wonder how many of you were affected and what you saw in your area.

Speaking of myself personally, I never lost power. I live in Boyd County Ky and was caught in a dividing line. To the left of my house, was rain and eventually flooding. One exit was cut off by water . To the right up toward the hillside, was ice and broken power lines and trees and another exit cut off.

There has been a lot of neigbor helping neigbor. A lot of people are still without power and I understand that Portsmouth was the hardest hit. For a time, the main drag there which is Route 52 was closed down because of falling
power lines and ice. We even had a 1500 foot television adn radio tower fall somewhere around here.

All in all, I was pretty lucky. My thoughts and prayers are with those who were not as fortunate.
