Subject: M-31 Mizzen mast deck compression project

I've just completed installing a stainless framework to stop and reverse the mizzen mast deck compression. I used 1 1/2" stainless square tube to support a plate with (4)1/2" threaded jack screws to adjust a stainless plate under the deck. I mounted the framework on the engine mount stringers. I like Connor Dibble's approach to the same problem instead if supporting on spots on the hull. I used 3x1 1/2" stainless channel to staddle the stringers and support the framework. It's a difficult and expensive project but solid as a rock. I'll post sketches and photos on the projects page soon. E-mail me for more detail. Bill

Hi Bill,
I was wondering how this system is holding up and if it has solved the problem for you? If possible, can you post the schematics and/or pictures of the Support? Would greatly appreciate it.

Mizzen support of stainless square tubing straddles engine and sets on engine stringers. I'll try to send picts and sketch as attachments.

Thank you Bill. Pics and/or a sketch would be great. If unable to post on here, could you send to my email? Tried to send you an email directly, but just bounced back.

Mike, Check the owners page for Natsukaze #73 for some pics and rough sketch of my mizzen support. Hope this helps. Designed it to be assembled in the boat because of
tight quarters around the perkins.

Bill
