Subject: MURRE, M31 is for sale in Bay Area, California

My beloved Mariner 31, MURRE is now for sale. She's a very capable cruiser on which I've sailed to Mexico, Tahiti, Hawaii and Alaska alone. And she can go again.

More on her specs and equipment here: http://figure8voyage.com/a-capable-cruiser-for-sale/

[> Murre For Sale? -- Mark, AEOLUS M31, - Thursday - 11/20/14 - 7:08am

For the 1st post in over a month it came as a bit of a shock to see Murre listed for sale.
Although you can never really lose a brother your input into this site will be greatly missed.
I envy your zest for life and the sea and wish you the best.
We all here at MOA owe you a debt of gratitude for your detailed input of maintaining these fine boats.
Fair winds to you Randall in all your intentions and thanks again.
Mark

[> [> Thanks for the kind words... -- Randall, - Thursday - 11/20/14 - 1:16pm

Hey Mark, thank you so much for the kind words. I have dropped out of the Mariner community these last two, three years, partly because I was cruising (the point, after all!) and lately because I'm moving in a direction Murre can't go. But I really appreciate your thoughts.

Murre has been such a huge part of my life since 2001, has taught me pretty much all I know about boats, that it's hard to think of moving on. To have gone from owning an old boat that needed an utter rebuild to learning how to rebuild and then customize and then to taking off into the wild blue ... it's been an amazing, thoroughly enjoyable, thoroughly satisfying run.

And there's no way I could have done it without the Mariner community. There were many, many days and quite a few late nights when I stood over some deconstructed what's-it (cockpit, deck, bulkhead, engine) wondering how the f**k it would all come together. And writing up my reports and getting help from you and others on the board literally saved the project more than once.

So, thanks to you and others for the support. For where we went and what we did, I have been thoroughly happy with Murre, and I will miss the daily comments, "My, what a lovely boat you have..."

[> There comes a day ......... -- Bill Kranidis, - Thursday - 12/ 4/14 - 10:38am

when you look at a boat and you automatically see yourself sailing to a certain destination (N-S-E-W). You have to have that boat. So you starting to address her weak and strong points. You prepare her as best as possible and then you go out there and make your dreams come true.

Randall, you have done all that in your beautiful Mariner. Your next goal will be as successful with your next boat. I can bet on it.

To say "it has been a blast getting to know you all these years" is a major understatement.

Don't be a stranger :-)

Best,
Bill Kranidis
