Subject: Windlass Installations

G'day, all and Happy Holidays! A two-year project in comprehensive restoration and now generally "Bristol" in apperance and function, I am now facing an extreme need with the proposed installation of an electric windlass for my Los Angeles based Mariner 31 vessel, "Venture" (S/V 158). I have previewed, reviewed, studied, digested every electric windlass imaginable...and confess that I remain generally if not thoroughly confused re preferred device selection, particularly given the rather tight deck space available for the essential install (clearly the new device will need to vault the sprit assembly...the sprit, BTW, now an overly handsome laminated Teak member replacing the original termite-infested Spruce member). I would greatly appreciate any selection/construct recommendations re windlasses, please. Thank you so much! Lawrence Hall (email )

Hello, Brian, and thanks for the reply re windlass selections. My email address is < d.lawrencehall@gmail.com >, cell phone is 310.980.7818. Would thoroughly appreciate receiving pics of your vessel and windlass installation. A sail up the road to Channel Islands to see you and your vessel sounds enticing, for sure...just need to get anchoring four-square first! BTW, a few days ago I and fellow Mariner owner, Henry Wood, sailed north in light winds to Ventura area...suddenly surrounded by a literal "Jail break" of Killer Whales (Orca) which (or who) stayed and danced and rubbed shoulders with my vessel "Venture" for about 1.5 hours...an amazing, epic NatGeo encounter and event! // Look forward to hearing from you and meeting you. // Cheers! Lawrence Hall (Steward S/V Venture)
